76ers Dominate Nets; Advance to Second Round

With the series heading back to Philadelphia with the 76ers having a 3-1 series lead, they did not want to give a young and hungry Brooklyn Nets team any life to get back into this series. Philadelphia got off to a 16-2 start in this game and they never looked back as they dominated Brooklyn 122-100 in Game 5.

Joel Embiid was a force once again for the Philadelphia 76ers with 23 points on 50 percent shooting from the field. He also grabbed 13 rebounds, recorded two assists, and recorded one steal.

Ben Simmons scored 13 points on 60 percent shooting from the field. He also grabbed five rebounds and recorded six assists.

Tobias Harris scored 12 points, grabbed eight rebounds, recorded four assists, and recorded three steals.

J.J. Reddick scored 11 points and recorded two assists for Philadelphia.

Their bench scored 54 points. James Ennis II scored 11 points on 62.5 percent shooting from the field. He also grabbed three rebounds, recorded three assists, and blocked one shot.

Jonathan Simmons scored 10 points and grabbed two rebounds.

The 76ers biggest lead in the game was 39 points. The Nets didn’t lead at all in this game.

Caris LeVert scored 18 points on 60 percent shooting from the field for Brooklyn. He also grabbed three rebounds, recorded four assists, and recorded one steal.

D’Angelo Russell might have played his worst game of the series with scoring only eight points on 18.8 percent shooting from the field.

The Brooklyn Nets bench once again was impressive even though they were blown out of the building to start. Rondae Hollis-Jefferson scored 21 points on 69.2 percent shooting from the field. He also grabbed two rebounds, recorded one assist, and blocked two shots.

Rodions Kurucs scored 14 points, grabbed seven rebounds, recorded one assist, and recorded one steal. He was ejected in the fourth-quarter and so was Jonah Bolden because of a scrap they got into.

Shabazz Napier scored 11 points on 60 percent shooting from the field. He also grabbed four rebounds, recorded 10 assists, and recorded one steal.

Brooklyn has a bright future ahead of them and they have a ton of cap space heading into free agency this summer. This team is a couple of years away from being serious contenders, unless they make major splashes this summer.

Philadelphia advances to the second-round for the second consecutive season. This is the first time since 2000 and 2001 this has happened for the 76ers.

They will be on the road to start the next series against the Toronto Raptors. The series will begin either later this week or early next week.
