AFC North Fantasy Breakdown – Cleveland Browns

Cleveland Browns: Not a team many get thrilled about. Previously finishing among the Leagues worst in recent years, the Browns have a good mix of young talent that could have Fantasy relevance. It’s scary to trust players on the leagues worst team, but Cleveland has some players with a lot of upside. The QB position isn’t one to worry about for Cleveland. The starter is not confirmed, nor will they contribute high Fantasy value. So let’s break down Fantasy relevant players on the Cleveland Browns.

Isaiah Crowell: Currently holding an ADP (Average Draft Position) of late 3rd; early 4th round, Crowell has a lot of hype going into this season. Crowell took 198 attempts for 952 yards, that’s 4.81 yards per carry and 7 touchdowns. During OTA’s Browns coach Hue Jackson made it clear that Crowell was not used enough in the 2016 season. He plans to get Crowell involved much more. Now I understand the fear of Cleveland going down early in the game and having to throw the ball, but I don’t think Cleveland will be that bad this season. I think Jackson will use the running game to his advantage. According to Pro Football Focus the Browns have the 2nd best offensive line in football. Meaning holes will be open for Crowell. I expect him to up his carries to easily 230 and to be well over 1,000 yards this season. If Crowells ADP continues to rise, there may be better options. But 4-5th round he is an immediate grab.

Corey Coleman: Colemans year was cut short due to injury. But with Tyrell Pryor on the move to Washington, Coleman is the clear #1 in Cleveland. Coleman finished his 2016 season just after 5 games. Coleman had 33 receptions with a whopping 413 yards and 3 TDs. On pace for 9 TDs, 1,000 yards and over 100 receptions. Coleman has a tremendous amount of upside. The issue being him staying healthy, as long as he is on the field he holds as a value pick. He could potentiallyend up being  WR2/Flex for you.

Kenny Britt: Coming off an impressive 1,000 receiving yard season, Kenny Britt finds a new home in Cleveland. Not a guy I’m going crazy for.  But I think Britt will be a flyer play with some upside. Most drafts will most likely not see him taken. Come bye weeks he may be a valuable play especially if Corey Coleman isn’t healthy. Keep Britt in the Flex conversation, he isn’t a reliable week to week play to start the season.

David Njoju: Drafted out of Miami with a lot of hype, the Browns took Njoku with a lot of confidence in his ability to play come week 1. A huge threat in the Redzone, Njoku finished his junior year at Miami with 8 TDs, 698 yards and 43 receptions. He should have no issue being the guy day 1 expect him to be a reliable option for the Browns soon to be named QB. His value in drafts is not high, but an explosive week 1 can make him a valuable add/drop guy. Keep Njoku on your bench but you should not feel safe having him as the only TE on your roster.

Keep posted for more team previews!

Farewell Big Papi

On Friday June 23rd David Ortiz had his jersey retired in Boston, his home for many years. Ortiz, originally playing in Minnesota for 6 years was a .266 hitter and really made his claim to fame when he later joined the RedSox in 2003. I think Big Papi is a no brained Hall of Famer. He means a lot to the City of Boston and is a very clutch player. His presence in the Sox dugout is most definitely missed and Friday Big Papi was honored

Following a 14 year Career in Boston Ortiz finished his career batting .286, 2472 Hits, 1419 Runs in a total of 8640 at bats. A memorable career worth noting.

Making Stubs (TheShow17)

It’s very easy to make a substantial amount of Stubs. This is my strategy to making stubs in MLB. I know many people don’t wanna spend money on he game. Neither do I. If you follow our site and read our weekly roster update predictions, you will be able to make stubs. Just follow these instructions.

My strategy requires a pre-existing budget. Nothing huge. I’d say around 10-20k stubs should be enough to get your feet off the ground. Following our Roster updates and or tracking hot players in the MLB it’s simple. Look for players currently sitting at a silver card. Reading roster predictions or stat tracking, look for players in the high silver range that could potentially upgrade to a gold card. Majority of silver players you can buy for under 500 stubs. Simply buying as many cards as possible under 500 stubs is the best strategy to making stubs. Use your 10k and max out the card.

For example. 2 weeks ago I purchased 10 Aaron Judge cards for 1k stubs each. On Friday the 23rd Judge received an upgrade to an 87 overall. I was able to sell each Judge for 4K stubs. A 3k profit margin. Something that doesn’t seem like a lot to many, but was more than I had before and I didn’t have to spend money. I highly recommend staying up to date with our roster predictions because you can flip cards like nothing. Be patient. Find out who’s hot and who’s getting the next bump to gold.

Diamond cards are much different. You won’t necessarily be able to make as much profit, and players going to Diamond are already pretty expensive. It’s tough. Dallas Keuchel. Someone expected to go to diamond for weeks finally got it. Prior to upgrade he was sitting at 7-8k. Post roster update, his diamond card is currently going for 11-14k stubs. I recommend sticking to Gold upgrades only. Diamonds are tough unless you are a high roller. Look out for our roster Updates every week, and get control of the market.

Bellinger Belts 20th and 21st of Year

In his first two at bats against the Mets, Cody Bellinger took Zack Wheeler WAY BACK for his 20th and 21st homeruns of the season. Something not many of us saw coming. Bellinger has quickly put his name in the spotlight and will most certainly be on track to win Rookie of The Year if he is to build on his historic start.

In the History of the Dodgers, Cody Bellinger is the fastest rookie to reach 21 homeruns. Playing in just 51 games Bellinger is only the 9th Dodgers rookie to hit 20 homeruns in his first season. Called up on April 25th and sitting on homer number 21, Bellinger has 91 games remaining this season and is well on pace to break the 40 homerun mark.

Why Ameer Abdullah will break out in his 3rd NFL Season

Yes I know not many of you do not trust Abdullah to stay healthy. I think this is the year he takes a leap forward. I’m not willing to say he will be a RB1 this season but he is definitely in the conversation for RB2 or Flex. Not only is Abdullah seeing great progress recovering from his most recent injury, but the Detroit Lions have dumped a lot of money into the offensive line this season. Signing OL, T.J. Lang and Ricky Wagner is a massive jump and shows Detroit wants to get down to the run game even more.

The 2016 Season was not a good one for Abdullah. Playing in just 2 games, injuries had ended his season very early. But if we look into his 2015 season where he played a full 16 games, (Some Limited) we can see the potential for a big year. Now keep in mind. Abdullah received less that 10 carries a total of 10 times. Meanwhile still finishing with 597 yards. If Abdullah averages 13-17 carries a game he should have no issues breaking 70+ yards a game and possibly getting into the end zone. I don’t think we will see too much Abdullah come goal line. The Lions will likely bring in power back Zenner. Here’s a breakdown of a somewhat healthy season for Abdullah in 2015.

Many people are threatened by the other back, Theo Riddick. I’m not worried one bit that Riddick will steal carries from Ameer. If anything I think we will see more 2 back Sets because both have the ability to catch the ball out of the backfield. Last season proved that Riddick is not effective when running the ball. Riddick gets his points in open field and catching the ball. I think Abdullah if used properly this season will be one of the most under-drafted players this year. A healthy season, according to past stats shows nothing more than a breakout year for a team that’s gonna keep the ball on the ground.  I’d be willing to draft Abdullah as early as the 7th round. But I do think he will be available much later around the 9th-10th round.

Cavs not out just yet?

Here we are game 5. The series hasn’t been as thrilling as we had expected. But the Cavs trail the Warriors 3-1. We know what happened last year. Coming into game 5 the Cavs are coming off of an impressive home win and have a large amount of momentum heading into tonight. Statistically, Kyrie Irving is 4-0 in Elimination games. This is huge for the Cavaliers and tells us that they show up to play come elimination time.

Game 4 we saw a much more physical game. The Cavs got the Warriors into foul trouble early and helped Cleveland build an early lead. From there they were near unstoppable. Major contributions came from Kevin Love, Kyrie Irving, and JR Smith. If the Cavs game plan stays the same they should not have an issue taking down the “super villains.” Although the major force behind the Warriors is their fans, the Cavs head into Oracle tonight. A tough task at hand, but if Cleveland continues to attack the basket they will win this game.

I will make it clear. If Cleveland wins tonight, Monday June 12th, they will force Game 7. I’ve never seen Cleveland play so well like they did in game 4. It’s do or die and I think Cleveland will show up again tonight. If Cleveland is to turn this series around the NBA will flipped upside down. That a team as talented as the Warriors were not able to dethrone the King. In my opinion I think Golden State was better last year. I thought the Chemistry was much better than this year. And if Durant were to stay in OKC, I think OKC would have went to the NBA Finals. The super team era to me is a mess. I’d love to see Lebron shock the NBA and defeat the Warriors.

My Pick Tonight:

Cleveland 117 Golden State 112

NHL18 Manifesto

Before reading this article I want to thank @S7HDesign on twitter for allowing me to use his NHL18 Concpets.

Following another disappointing year for the EA NHL Series, it’s about the time to discuss what we want. What the games lacking and what the game could add. At the release date of NHL17 the game semmed amazing. After NHL16 playing the 17 Beta the game felt amazing. It was impossible to put the Beta down. I remember having to buy 2 EA Access accounts because I used my hours up so quickly. But as the months went buy the game slowly declined. Here’s what the NHL community wants out of NHL18.
Better In Game Atmosphere

Throughout the years the in game atmosphere has improved. More faces in the crowd and stadiums headed into more authentic look, as if it is the real thing. But I do not feel like we are quite there yet. We have a long way to go. I think it all starts with the boys in the booth. Eddie and Doc need to have much more enthusiasm throughout the game. Arenas need to add custom chants for their home team. “Let’s Go RedWings!” On high scoring chances. When a 2 on 1 chance presents itself or a breakaway there is absolutely no difference in the crowds cheering. There needs to be a dramatic increase in enthusiasm when a scoring opportunity presents itself, and when goalies make outstanding saves. This will add a much more realistic feature and players will enjoy the excitement from their home crowd.

More Play Likenesses

NHL17 did a much better job of scanning in players and making them look real. But there are some players who don’t even have a scan. For veterans and players 5-6 years into the league and have yet to have a face scan done is outrageous.  We need to get all players scanned and updated for the release of the game. Rookies who will be up in the NHL for the first time, understandable. We do not expect rookies to be scanned. But we expect players who’ve been in the league to have an almost identical face.

Roster Updates

I’ve heard many complaints about this, and I’ve heard and have used one solution. The Madden system. Madden allows players to alter ratings and move players on rosters. Leaving Madden teams with one less update to push out every month. If NHL does not move into this direction, we expect a roster Update every month, ON TIME.

The Invisible Wall

Some may know what I am talking about, other may not. When the puck lies on the goal line and it is impossible to hit it in. Everyone has been out in the situation where the puck is sitting behind the goalie and no matter how many times you poke shoot or chop at that puck, it will not move. This is an issue that needs to be addressed. The “Invisible Wall” needs to be removed so players can poke the puck in just like in real hockey.

Career Mode

Career mode need to go back to Living the Life mode. A popular game mode in NHL14. Players want more control of their player and want to make more of their own decisions making the mode much more realistic.

Competetive Seasons

The newest mode in NHL17 and a good one in my opinion. Competetive Seasons has a lot of potential. For highly skilled players like myself, looking to earn rewards for there outstanding play this is the ideal mode. Although many issues have risen within the mode. Starting with looping out the game. There is a way to stop it. Don’t skip replays. But in reality this issue has been around for 3/4 months already and EA has yet come out with a way to prevent this. It must be fixed for NHL18. I don’t expect it to get done in 17 but I expect it ready to go for 18. Another issue was Booters. Competetive Seasons is a mode where the prizes earned are crazy. But there is no such thing as integrity in the mode or earning the prizes the proper way. For those of you who have been amongst the top 500 you know what I mean. You may be 2 minutes into the game where you are taken out and given a loss. Scaling the leaderboards players go 21-0 without playing more than 5 minutes of a game. The Booters need to be dealt with in order to save the mode.

The most played mode in NHL17 needs more. The addition of Draft Champions made it seems all the more worth it but it was not. The reward system for Draft Champions was flawed. Winning games and receiving collectibles for players you don’t want or need was not worth it. I recommend heading into a MLB The Show direction. I like Battle Royale. Rewards are earned through win. Streaks. If you go 12-0 you are rewarded with diamond level players. I think NHL needs to head in that direction.

Card Design

To start, we have some of the best designers in the NHL community. Their concepts are outstanding. Let them present their ideas to the Dev team. On the Basis of card design. I think we should move into an action shot card. No more headshots. Action shots make the cards much more authentic to the ones we collected growing up as kids. I also believe we need a new system of rating cards. I like madden. Elite, Gold, Silver. I think NHL should pick that up. The base card doesn’t seem to have any value as the year goes on. I’d like something new.

Collections and Sets

For the first time this year we added a Sets menu to NHL17. I was not a huge fan. Collections were made pointless and Hut Heroes made their debut. I think that Hut Heroes need to be removed from the game. Yes it is cool to use some players that have never been in the game before. But I think the collection system was much better. I’d rather complete a team and receive a 50k coin bonus instead of forfeiting my cards and collectibles for an OP 94 overall player. It made the game very unfair to players unable to complete the set. Personally I did not have an issue dealing with people who had all Heroes because I am a good player of the game. But when I had the Heroes, the messages I’ve received said it all. They are too OP. We need to go back to NHL14 when collections were worth doing.

TOTW Colelctibles

This idea comes out of madden. The NHL TOTW is pointless right now. The only possible way to receive the card are buying packs. There is a “Challenge TOTW” game you can play. But no reward. I think if you beat the TOTW 2 times a week you should receive a collectible. Those collectible can be used to trade in 10 or 15 collectibles for a TOTW player. It’s something that keeps the game interesting and allows players who dont spend money to earn cool rewards.

The NHL17 Leaderboards are flawed. The only way you get to the top is by playing 1000+ games. The Leaderboards needs to have more taken into account. The NHL team needs to put players who win games in the toughest divisions and have a high W/L on top of the boards. Good players are not seeing their name up there because they don’t have time to drop 1000+ games a year.

Simplify The HUT Navigation Menu

I’m not fully aware if this was an issue for all of you but I feel like when navigating the menus to get where you wanted you had to jump through a lot of hoops. To many times I feel you had to hit A when it could have been a simple one click and you were where you wanted. More so in the market. It needs to be simplified. No need to jump through rings on fire.

I know EA wants to make their fans feel appreciated and looked after but I feel they made it too easy to get good players in the game this year. I was not a fan of the Christmas reward and the following ones. I do not think cards should be handed out like so. Maybe once a year is ok. But the NHL Awards and the Senko card seems too much to me. Let people work for their stuff instead of reward them when they cry.

Custom Hut Arenas and Jerseys

Nothing I’ve heard to much about. But I think it would be interesting. Allowing players to use a system very much like Call of Duty has used for their emblem system. I think something like The Show would be perfect. A logo vault allowing people to post their creations and people to use them. And allowing people to make their own. It would add more of a My Ultimate Team feeling. Instead of regular NHL logos.

Youtubers and Streamers
I am not partnered with EA but the youtubers and streamers have been a major topic of conversation in the NHL community. I think that people need to stop silencing partnered players and complain when they receive cards. They worked hard for what they earned. Every single person who plays NHL17 has the ability to live stream gameplay. So it is fair they get the cards. They put the time in. Let them do what they want with the cards when they want. Over 70% of the time they give the cards away to their “fans” who only seems to show up when they can win something.

Better Gameplay

A lot of the NHL17 Content is fine. The major issues are with gameplay. We were told seamless puck pick ups. We have not seen seamless. Players of high caliberaremissing passes that could potentially lead to scoring chances. Another issue with HUT gameplay is slap shots on the boards. Penalty killing is a major part of this game. When you are on the boards and need to dump taking a slap shot around is a good way to get it out. But. A lot of times you will swing and miss the puck while on the boards leading to a turnover and a possible scoring chance. One of the big issues are inconsistent goaltenders. There are many goalies who are absolutely outstanding. One of them. Kolzig. An absolute monster. But at times goalies let in some of the weakest shots ever. Back handed wrist shots from the point have as good a Chance of going in as breakaway shots. It’s ridiculous the games I have lost as well as games I won by the shots taken to win it. It has to be the most frustrating thing in the world and players of the game know it the best.

A mode that I wasn’t thrilled with, but happy about in NHL17. A lot of people are pushing for custom player builds. Everyone wants to be unique in their own way. GET RID OF PRE BUILT CLASSES. We want to be better than other people. We want to stand out. Stop making the game for “EVERYONE.” We want the competetive aspect of the game. Let the good succeed and weak die. Adding the leveling up of Club and unlocking arena upgrades was not enough. Again go back to NHL14. We all want to be Legend 3. No more Hitting Sniper. We want LEGEND 3’s. Give us something to work for. I will say. Working for Goal Cellys was fun. But let us work for our builds. If not. Allow certain equipment to enhance your players stats. For example. Allow a Bauer skate to add a +3 to your players speed and agility. Meanwhile a Reebok Stick adds +4 to Slap shot accuracy and power. Make people feel different, and let people play to be the best. No more limitations.

NHL 17 had a good mix of Dekes but we have seen them in the previous years. There is one favorite I think we need to bring back. 1 handed dekes. Everyone loved putting the puck to the side on a breakaway and slidingit past the tendy. It’s a unique deke that would add another fun element to the game. Some of the Dekes in the game are ineffective. Spinning is broken. I couldn’t tell you how many times I should have perfectly dodged a hit, when a little contact knocks the puck off my stick. For players like myself who like to get fancy we want a more smooth transition from deke to deke. No more choppy moves.

3 On 3 Mode

Started from the 3 On 3 NHL Arcade game,  a fav favorite, has led many people to add a MyPark type mode to NHL. A very similar set up to MyPark have multiple arenas set up and run a server of players. Let people squad up or hop in games. Would make the game a lot of fun and would be a relaxed mode when you need a break from HUT or EASHL.

There is so much more I could add. But the list is pretty long. Thank you for reading. Looking forward to NHL18!

The Cavs Rant

What in the world happened to the Cleveland Cavaliers? The defending champs just got slapped around my the Golden State Warriors. I’m not one to call the series over. But Clevelands got some things to work on if they play to “Defend the Land” see what I did there.! Final score of game 1, Warriors 113 Cavs 91. The first road loss of the playoffs for the Cavs, but here are some things that need to be fixed in order for King James and the Cavs to repeat.

1.) Turnovers

Following Game 1 the Cavs finished with a total of 20 turnovers. Out of every team in the league to turn the ball over to you choose the Warriors. A team that thrives off of turnovers. Cleveland must protect the basketball better. It is the only way they are gonna win games. Don’t turn the ball over. Force them.

2.) Defense

One of the worst, if not the worst defensive performance by the Cavaliers all season. For example. Durant grabs board, takes down the court the Warriors have a 3 on 2, why in the world are the Cavs running to the man sitting at the 3 point line. They made Durant look like Moses parting the Red Sea.  The Cavs need to get stops at all costs. The Warriors have too much fire power to allow open looks and uncontested shots. They are arguably the best shooting team in the league. There is a D in Cleveland, but no D in the Cavaliers in Game 1.

3.) Missing open Looks

The Cavs didn’t have the best night of shooting. Only 34.9% from the field. A all time low for the Cavs. The only way you are gonna beat the Warriors is by scoring as much as possible. Golden State is a streaky team. They can go on 12-0 runs like nothing. You have to match them. Eye for an eye. If Curry is gonna hit a 3, Cleveland has to answer back. You let the Warriors get hot and you don’t match them, GAVE OVER.

4.) Stopping KD

Kevin Durant led the Warriors in Game 1 with 38 points, 8 assists and 8 Rebounds. If the Cavs don’t stop Durants outstanding Mid-Range game and shut him down on his drives to the basket, they will lose. It’s very possible the Warriors could sweep. Going into the #’s Draymond and Klay didn’t even have good games. It’s gonna be tough to shut down this high powered offfense, but it starts with KD.
