Chris Martin struck out all three batters he faced in the seventh-inning for the Braves and he only threw nine pitches in that inning.
Dallas Keuchel (8-5) was the winning pitcher for Atlanta. He pitched six innings and gave up three hits and one run. Keuchel walked three batters and struck out eight batters.
It was one of his better starts of the season.
Zach Eflin (8-12) was the losing pitcher for Philadelphia. He pitched 3.2 innings and gave up three hits and three runs. Eflin walked three batters and struck out five.
Mark Melancon recorded his 11th save of the season for the Atlanta Braves. He pitched one inning and gave up two hits.
The Philadelphia Phillies are only two games back of the Chicago Cubs and the Milwaukee Brewers for the second wild card spot in the National League.
The New York Mets are also two games back for the second wild card spot in the National League.
Atlanta is only three games back of the Los Angeles Dodgers for the first spot overall in the National League.
The fourth game between the Braves and the Phillies will take place at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia on Thursday night.
The projected pitching match up will be Julio Teheran (10-8, 3.31 ERA) for Atlanta and Drew Smyly (4-6, 6.20 ERA) for Philadelphia.
