After having a rating of -5 in Game 1, Brayden Point bounced back with a goal and three assists for the Tampa Bay Lightning in a 4-2 Game 2 win against the Boston Bruins. The series is tied at one.
Yanni Gourde scored a power-play goal for the Lightning in the first period. Tampa Bay killed off a key five-on-three power play in the period. Boston didn’t record a shot on goal until past the mid-way mark through the first period. They were once out shot 10-0 in the period. It looked like Boston was skating with cylinder blocks on their legs early in the game. Charlie McAvoy tied the game one for the Bruins with 1:30 remaining in the first period.
Tyler Johnson scored the lone goal for Tampa Bay in the second period. Ondrej Palat scored for the Lightning in the third period. Torey Krug scored for Boston on a bad angle shot with 4:02 remaining in regulation. Brayden Point scored an empty-net goal with 26 seconds remaining in regulation.
Andrei Vasilevskiy made 18 saves for the Lightning. Tuukka Rask made 27 saves for the Bruins. Game 3 will be on Wednesday Night in Boston.
