The Atlanta Falcons seemed like they were starting to hit their stride, but the Cleveland Browns decided to put an end to that stride. They pulled off the upset on Sunday afternoon 28-16.
Baker Mayfield threw a 28-yard touchdown pass to Rashad Higgins in the first-quarter. That was Higgins’s only reception in the game.
With the Falcons trailing 7-3 in the second, Matt Ryan threw a 1-yard touchdown pass to Julio Jones. Jones finished with seven receptions for 107 yards receiving and a score. Julio Jones has now surpassed the 10,000 receiving yards mark in his career.
Baker Mayfield threw a 13-yard touchdown pass to Nick Chubb later in the second-quarter for the Cleveland Browns.
With the Cleveland Browns leading 14-10 in the third, Baker Mayfield threw a 11-yard touchdown pass to Duke Johnson Jr. Johnson Jr. finished with four receptions for 31 yards receiving and a score. He also rushed for 15 yards on three carries.
Mayfield completed 17-of-20 passes for 216 yards and three touchdowns. He also rushed for 20 yards on six carries.
Nick Chubb scored on a 92-yard touchdown run later in the third. Chubb finished with 176 yards rushing on 20 carries and a score. He also caught three passes for 33 yards receiving and a touchdown. Antonio Callaway was the Cleveland Browns leading receiver with two receptions for 39 yards receiving.
The Atlanta Falcons got stuffed on a fourth-and-goal later in the fourth. They did score one more touchdown in the fourth on a 3-yard touchdown pass to Austin Hooper from Matt Ryan (failed 2-point conversion).
Hooper finished with 10 receptions for 56 yards receiving and a score. Ryan completed 38-of-52 passes for 330 yards and two touchdowns. He also rushed for 13 yards on three carries. Tevin Coleman was the Falcons leading rusher with 44 yards on 11 carries.
The Atlanta Falcons (4-5) will host the Dallas Cowboys (3-5) next Sunday. The Cleveland Browns (3-6-1) will be on a bye next week. They will then be on the road against the Cincinnati Bengals (5-4) in Week 12.
