Cardinals Force Game 5 Against Braves

The St. Louis Cardinals were down 4-3 at home in the bottom of the eighth-inning against the Atlanta Braves and St. Louis was also down 2-1 in the series. With a loss, the Cardinals would be packing for the season and Atlanta would be moving onto the NLCS.

Instead, Yadier Molina tied the game up in the bottom of the eighth-inning on an RBI single off of Shane Greene and Freddie Freeman also robbed him of a base hit and it went off the tip of his glove.

Molina also hit the game winning sacrifice fly in the bottom of the 10th inning and Kolten Wang scored from third base and St. Louis won Game 4 over the Braves by a score of 5-4.

This team lives to play for another day at the moment.

Greene was the one who blew the save opportunity in this game for the Braves. He pitched 1.2 innings and gave up three hits and one run. Greene also struck out a batter and he did not walk anybody in this contest.

Paul Goldschmidt and Marcell Ozuna each hit solo homers in the first-inning for the St. Louis Cardinals off of Dallas Keuchel.

Ozzie Albies had a sacrifice fly in the third-inning for Atlanta.

Marcell Ozuna hit second solo homer of the game in the fourth-inning off of Keuchel.

Adam Duvall reached base on an error in the fifth-inning for the Braves. Dansby Swanson scored on the play.

Ozzie Albies hit a two-run homer later in the inning for Atlanta off of Dakota Hudson to give them a 4-3 lead.

Miles Mikolas (1-0) was the winning pitcher in this game for St. Louis. He pitched one scoreless inning. Mikolas was the game 1 starter.

Julio Teheran (0-1) was the losing pitcher in this game for the Atlanta Braves. He pitched 0.2 innings and gave up one hit and one run. Teheran also intentionally walked a batter.

Dallas Keuchel was the starting pitcher in this game for Atlanta. He pitched 3.1 innings and gave up four hits and three runs. Keuchel walked one batter and struck out four.
