It was just a matter of time before the Oklahoma City Thunder decided to move on from forward Carmelo Anthony after they announced a couple of weeks ago they planed to move on from him. He and a 2022 first-round draft pick to the Atlanta Hawks for guard Dennis Schroder and center Mike Muscala.
The Atlanta Hawks plan to waive Carmelo Anthony. Once that happens, he will most likely sign with the Houston Rockets. Anthony was supposed to be owed approximately between $27 million and $28 million.
He is 34 years old and Carmelo Anthony wants to win now somewhere else. This was clearly a business decision for both teams. The Thunder got a little deeper on the bench and they were able to get rid of Carmelo’s contract.
The Hawks were able to get rid of an older player in Muscala and they weren’t fond with Schroder. The Atlanta Hawks are completely building from scratch.
