Brett Maher kicked the game-winning 38-yard field goal for the Dallas Cowboys as time expired to lift them to a 26-24 victory over the Detroit Lions.
Golden Tate caught the go-ahead 38-yard touchdown pass from Matthew Stafford with 2:24 remaining in regulation, to give Detroit a 24-23 lead.
With the Lions trailing 3-0 in the first, Stafford threw a 45-yard touchdown pass to Golden Tate. Stafford completed 24-of-30 passes for 307 yards and two touchdowns. He also rushed for five yards on two carries. Tate caught eight passes for 132 yards receiving and two touchdowns.
With the Cowboys trailing 10-6 in the second-quarter, Dak Prescott threw a 38-yard touchdown pass to Ezekiel Elliott. Elliott finished with four receptions for 88 yards receiving and a touchdown. He also rushed for 152 yards on 25 carries.
In the third-quarter, Dak Prescott threw a 1-yard touchdown pass to Geoff Swaim. Swaim finished with three receptions for 39 yards receiving and a touchdown. Prescott completed 17-of-27 passes for 255 yards and two touchdowns. He also rushed for two yards on three carries.
In the fourth-quarter, Kerryon Johnson scored on an 8-yard touchdown run. Johnson finished with 55 yards rushing on eight carries and a score.
Matt Prater made a 33-yard field goal for the Detroit Lions. Brett Maher also made a 32, 43, and 22 yards out.
The Detroit Lions (1-3) will host the Green Bay Packers (2-1-1) next weekend. The Dallas Cowboys will be on the road against the Houston Texans (1-3) next Sunday night.
