It is November and college basketball will soon be upon us. One of my favorite times of the year, route for colleges where I don’t know who the starting five will be until opening tip. That being said here are my top 25 college basketball teams going into the 2017 season.
1. Duke
2. Michigan State
3. Kentucky
4. Arizona
5. Kansas
6. Wichita State
7. Villanova
8. North Carolina
9. West Virginia
10. Florida
11. Cincinnati
12. USC
13. Miami
14. Gonzaga
15. Notre Dame
16. Xavier
17. North Western
18. UCLA
19. Purdue
20. Louisville
21. Minnesota
22. Seton Hall
23. Baylor
24. Virginia
25. Providence
Grayson Allen returns and coach K makes this team a perennial contender year in and year out. Michigan State may just have the best back court in the country. Kansas is at five because they lost key seniors and Frank Jackson to the draft but are still a top five team. Bill Self always does a great job getting his team into shape but I have a hard time seeing why the AP thinks they’re better than a much more talented Kentucky team. Wichita State now has experience and I expect them to make a deep tourney run this year. Villanova has junior Jalen Brunson who should be considered a candidate for the Wooden award in my opinion. North Western now has experience and had a fantastic recruiting class come in. Notable teams not in the AP rankings that made mine Virginia and Providence both because of veteran coaching staffs and previous success. Louisville is at 20 because Rick Pitino is out and the program in general is in massive disarray.
