Flyers Take Down Penguins

The Pittsburgh Penguins had a power play to open up the third-period with the game tied at two. Kris Letang was caught napping and the Flyers had a fast break. Dale Weise scored the game-winning short-handed goal for Philadelphia 51 seconds into the third-period and it lifted them to a 4-2 win over Pittsburgh.

Sidney Crosby scored a goal for the Penguins 39 seconds into the game. Travis Konecny scored a goal for the Flyers 5:03 later in the first.

Riley Sheahan scored a goal for the Pittsburgh Penguins 5:49 into the second-period. Claude Giroux scored on a one-timer 1:03 later for the Philadelphia Flyers.

With Philadelphia leading 3-2 late in the third, Jakub Voracek scored on an empty-net goal with 22 seconds remaining. Anthony Stolarz made 20 saves for the Flyers. Casey DeSmith made 22 saves for the Penguins.

The Pittsburgh Penguins continue to struggle when scoring less than three goals in a game. The last time they won a game like that was back in October of 2017. The Philadelphia Flyers got a much needed win on the road.

Philadelphia’s next game is against the Columbus Blue Jackets at home on Thursday night. Pittsburgh’s next game is against the Colorado Avalanche at home on Tuesday night.
