Giants Survive Bears in Overtime

After the Chicago Bears called their version of the “Philly Special” down 27-20 with one second to go in regulation, Tarik Cohen threw a 1-yard touchdown pass to Anthony Miller as time expired. Chicago tied the game with the extra point and the game went to overtime.

The New York Giants got the ball first in overtime. Aldrick Rosas made a 44-yard field goal. The Chicago Bears got the ball then the Giants defense made a stand and New York held on for a 30-27 victory in overtime.

On the second play of the game, Alec Ogletree picked off Chase Daniel and he returned it eight yards for a touchdown.

Later in the first, Daniel threw a 2-yard touchdown pass to Adam Shaheen. Shaheen caught two passes for five yards receiving and a score. Chase Daniel completed 26-of-39 passes for 285 yards one touchdown and two interceptions. He rushed for four yards on four carries. Chase Daniel started his second straight game because of a shoulder injury to Mitchell Trubisky.

Aaron Hicks scored on a 1-yard touchdown run for the Bears in the second quarter.

On a third-and-23 play with less than 20 seconds remaining for the Giants, Saquon Barkley took a rush 22 yards to set New York up in field goal range. Aldrick Rosas drilled a 57-yard field goal as time expired to end the first half.

Barkley rushed for 125 yards on 24 carries. He also caught three passes for 21 yards receiving.

In the third-quarter, Odell Beckham Jr. threw a 49-yard touchdown pass to Russell Shepard. Shepard caught two passes for 59 yards receiving and a score. Later in the third, Eli Manning threw a 1-yard touchdown pass to Beckham Jr. He caught three passes for 35 yards receiving and a score. Manning completed 19-of-35 passes for 170 yards one touchdown and one interception.

With the Bears down 27-17, Cody Parkey kicked a 21-yard field goal with 1:13 remaining in regulation. Chicago recovered the onside kick and the rest was history.

Jordan Howard was the Chicago Bears leading rusher with 76 yards on 16 carries. He also caught one pass for four yards receiving. Tarik Cohen was Chicago’s leading receiver with 12 receptions for 156 yards receiving. He also rushed for 30 yards on eight carries.

The Chicago Bears (8-4) will host the Los Angeles Rams (11-1) next Sunday night. The New York Giants (4-8) will be on the road against the Washington Redskins (6-5) next Sunday.
