The first half of the Tennessee Titans and the New England Patriots was very controversial, but it is also very clear that the refs are clearly one sided with the New England Patriots. When the game was tied at seven in the second-quarter, Eric Decker caught a pass for a first down.
Instead, they called pass interference and it seemed ticky tack. On the next play, it was a third-and-14 and Marcus Mariota threw an incomplete pass. It led to a punt by the Titans and it set up New England in good field position. It led to a James White 6-yard touchdown run. The refs missed an illegal blind side blocking and a holding call on that touchdown drive.
On the next Patriots drive, the Titans forced them to a three-and-out. However on fourth-and-5, the Patriots were originally called for a false start. However, the refs decided to change it to a neutral zone infraction penalty.
You be the judge whether or not it was the right call, but I thought it was clearly the wrong call. It eventually changed the game in favor of the Patriots once again and it gave them a first down. Chris Hogan eventually caught a 4-yard touchdown from Tom Brady. If it wasn’t for the poor officiating, the game would be more competitive right now.
Here are some tweets made by people about the game and I don’t blame for there outrage: https://twitter.com/mikefreemanNFL/status/952369937040990208, https://twitter.com/SteeIerNation/status/952370137474138112, https://twitter.com/Titan_Sized/status/952367611035123713, https://twitter.com/Crushboy31/status/952368496272437249, https://twitter.com/s2shear/status/952378497741279234.
Also, the refs missed a face mask on the Patriots in the first half on a fourth-and-1 at the Patriots 46-yard line. Here is the obvious face mask penalty: https://twitter.com/JasonRomano/status/952372689146085377
