With Lebron James leaving to the Los Angeles Lakers via free agency, what were the Cleveland Cavaliers going to do with Kevin Love? I thought they were going to trade him and start a full rebuild, but the Cleveland Cavaliers have decided to sign Kevin Love to a four-year contract extension worth $120 million. It is set to kick in after next season.
Love only had one-year left on his contract. He is owed $24.115 million this season. Love declined his player option for the 2019-2020 because of the contract extension. He is 29 years old and Love has had a history of injuries.’
For the first time since being with the Minnesota Timberwolves, he is going to be the number one scoring option. I expect Love to post up more often. He will probably put up monster numbers night in and night out, as long as he is healthy.
Kevin Love averaged 17.6 PPG, 5.3 RPG, 1.7 APG, 0.4 BPG, and 0.7 SPG last season, in 59 games with the Cleveland Cavaliers. As long as he stays healthy, Love should be an all-star and once bad contracts of other players are up, they might be able to attract free agent. The odds of them attracting free agents with Lebron James gone is very slim, but if rookie Collin Sexton becomes a star, then it might be an attractable destination.
