Kristaps Porzingis Traded to Dallas Mavericks in Block Buster Trade

Kristaps Porzingis has not played in a game this season for the New York Knicks. On Thursday afternoon, New York and the Dallas Mavericks made a blockbuster trade that sent Porzingis, Trey Burke, Courtney Lee, and Tim Hardaway Jr. to Dallas for DeAndre Jordan, Wesley Matthews, Dennis Smith Jr., and two future first-round draft picks.

The New York Knicks have the worst record in the NBA at the moment at 10-40. The Dallas Mavericks sit in 12th in the Western Conference with a 23-27 record. This trade happened with exactly one week to go before the NBA trade deadline.

Porzingis was the fourth overall pick in the 2015 NBA Draft. He will be a free agent at the end of the season. The possible plan might be to pair him with Luca Doncic. Kristaps Porzingis is averaging 17.8 PPG, 7.1 RPG, 1.3 APG, 2 BPG, and 0.7 SPG in his career. He is only 23 years old.

Trey Burke is averaging 11.8 PPG, 1.9 RPG, 2.8 APG, 0.2 BPG, and 0.6 SPG so far this season. He is 26 years old. Courtney Lee is averaging 4.7 PPG, 2.3 RPG, 1.3 APG, 0.2 BPG, and 0.7 SPG so far this season. He is 33 years old.

Tim Hardaway Jr. is averaging 19.1 PPG, 3.5 RPG, 2.7 APG, 0.1 BPG, and 0.9 SPG so far this season. He is 26 years old.

DeAndre Jordan will be a free agent at the end of the season and he is 30 years old. Jordan is averaging 11 PPG, 13.7 RPG, 2 APG, 1.1 BPG, and 0.7 SPG so far this season. Wesley Matthews Jr. is 32 years old. He is averaging 13.1 PPG, 2.3 RPG, 2.3 APG, 0.3 BPG, and 0.8 SPG so far this season.

Dennis Smith Jr. was the ninth pick in the 2017 NBA Draft. A lot of people thought he should have been drafted by the New York Knicks in the first place instead of Frank Ntilikina. Smith Jr. is averaging 12.9 PPG, 3 RPG, 4.3 APG, 0.3 BPG, and 1.3 SPG so far this season.
