Madison Bowey scored 2:20 into the game for the Red Wings. Darren Helm scored a short-handed goal for Detroit with 9:36 remaining in the first-period. Justin Abdelkader scored for the Red Wings 3:43 into the second-period.
Steven Stamkos scored a power-play goal for the Lightning with 7:03 remaining in the second-period.
Brayden Point scored 1:46 into the third-period for Tampa Bay. Nikita Kucherov tied the game on the power-play 8:24 into the third-period to tie the game at three. Tyler Johnson made it 4-3, 26 seconds later.
Kucherov also made it 5-3 Lightning with 3:22 remaining in regulation.
Michael Rasmussen scored for the Detroit Red Wings with 1:42 remaining in regulation and the rest was history.
Andrei Vasilevskiy finished with 23 saves for Tampa Bay. Jimmy Howard finished with 34 saves for Detroit.
The Tampa Bay Lightning swept the season series against the Detroit Red Wings 4-0. Tampa Bay’s next game will be against the Washington Capitals at home on Saturday night. Detroit’s next game will be against the New York Islanders at home on Saturday night.
