Nikita Kucherov scored two goals and recorded three assists for the Tampa Bay Lightning in a 5-1 win on the road on Monday night against the Columbus Blue Jackets.
Kucherov now has 99 points on the season and needs just one more point to reach the 100 mark. Once he reaches that milestone, it will be the second consecutive season Nikita Kucherov has recorded at least 100 points or more.
He scored both goals in the first-period. Kucherov scored with 7:42 remaining in the first and with 5:36 remaining in the first. Steven Stamkos scored a power-play goal for Tampa Bay with 29 seconds remaining in the second-period.
Brayden Point scored two goals in the opening 46 seconds of the third-period for the Lightning. One of those goals was scored on the power play.
Lukas Sedlak scored the lone goal for Columbus with 1:45 remaining in regulation and it broke the shutout streak for Andrei Vasilevskiy. He recorded 39 saves for Tampa Bay. Joonas Korpisalo recorded 15 saves for the Blue Jackets.
The Tampa Bay Lightning swept the season series 3-0 and both of these teams could very well play against each other in the first-round of the playoffs.
Tampa Bay’s next game will be against the Philadelphia Flyers on the road on Tuesday night. Columbus’s next game will be against the Montreal Canadiens on the road on Tuesday night.
