Los Angeles Lakers Going to Miss Postseason?

The Los Angeles Lakers were destinated to be a playoff team this season when they signed Lebron James and a few other players this offseason. They lost another game on the road this afternoon to the Philadelphia 76ers 143-120.

Los Angeles currently sits in 10th place in the Western Conference. They are two games back of the Sacramento Kings for the ninth spot in the west and they are 2.5 games back of the Los Angeles Clippers for the eighth spot in the west.

The Lakers record so far this season is 28-28. They will have one more game before the All-Star Break on the road against the Atlanta Hawks on Tuesday night.

They will just have 25 games remaining in the regular season after the All-Star Break. The first game after the break will be on Thursday, February 21 against the Houston Rockets at home.

Fifteen of the remaining 26 games for the Los Angeles Lakers will be against teams that would be in the postseason if the season ended right now. Because of that, it is quite possible they miss the postseason.

If that’s the case, it is quite possible Head Coach Luke Walton could be fired at the end of the season. I don’t think it is Walton’s fault because Lebron James missed several games with a groin injury. There is high expectations in Los Angeles and Magic Johnson might be forced to make a move.

I think it is quite possible they miss the playoffs. The best I think they could do at this point is getting the sixth seed in the west. I don’t think the Lakers will get past the first-round no matter who they play. They will not beat the Golden State Warriors, the Denver Nuggets, or the Oklahoma City Thunder in a playoff series.
