The New York Knicks just traded away Carmelo Anthony for Enes Kanter, Doug McDermott and a future draft pick. Last night Melo waived his no trade clause for the Thunder and the Knicks finally got a good trade for Melo that wouldn’t make their team a lot worse than it was.
What the Thunder look like now:
The Thunder now look like a contending team with a loaded starting lineup adding Paul George and Carmelo Anthony this offseason. The Thunder won both of those trades and now look like a team who can give the Warriors some competition. Melo gives the Thunder some three point shooting which they struggled with last season. Melo now has the opportunity to thrive with a new team that is contending for a good seed in the West and possibly a WCF.
How Melo will fit with the Thunder:
Anthony might fit really well with the Thunder because he has a really talented passer in Westbrook that can feed him the ball for open looks that he wasn’t able to get that often with New York. He also has a solid coach and a good front office behind him that New York couldn’t provide for him either. Expect Melo to come out really sharp this next season and play a pivotal part in the Thunder’s success next season.
Melo getting traded to the Thunder brings so much life into that franchise after losing in the first round last season to possibly getting to the WCF this season. Russ, Paul George and Melo are going to be a great trio and will bring more excitement to the Western Conference this season!
