With the game tied at two in the seventh-inning, an unlikely hero emerged for the Baltimore Orioles. Chris Davis hit a solo home run off of Bobby Wahl and the Orioles scored four combined runs in the seventh and eighth innings off the New York Mets bullpen to win 6-3.
This is the third time this season the Orioles have beaten the Mets. Well bad teams have to win sometime I guess and Mets fans heads must be spinning. New York came off a big win the night before against the New York Yankees on the road.
Mark Trumbo hit a sacrifice fly in the fourth-inning for Baltimore.
Kevin Plawecki and Amed Rosario each had an RBI single with two outs in the fifth-inning for New York.
Adam Jones tied the game at two in the bottom of the sixth-inning for the Orioles on a solo home run off Jason Vargas.
With the Baltimore Orioles leading 3-2 in the seventh, Rento Nunez hit an RBI single with two outs. Tim Beckham hit a two-run homer for Baltimore in the eighth-inning off of Paul Sewald.
Brandon Nimmo scored a run in the ninth-inning for the Mets on an error. They had a chance to damage in the ninth, but they didn’t capitalize.
Andrew Cashner (4-10) was the winning pitcher for the Baltimore Orioles. He pitched seven innings and gave up five hits. Cashner walked three batters and struck out three.
Bobby Wahl (0-1) was the losing pitcher for the New York Mets. He pitched 0.2 innings and gave up one hit and two runs. Wahl walked two batters and struck out one.
Mychal Givens picked up his fourth save of the season for the Orioles. He pitched one inning and struck out one batter.
