Mets Offense Explodes in Win against Orioles

The New York Mets didn’t want to get swept again this season to the worst team in baseball in the Baltimore Orioles. The Mets offense spoke loud early and often and they dominated in a 16-5 win.

Brandon Nimmo led the charge for the New York Mets as he went 5-for-5 with three RBI’s. He was a home run away from hitting for the cycle.

Wilmer Flores hit a sacrifice fly and Todd Frazier hit an RBI single in the first-inning for New York.

Baltimore responded in the first-inning on an Adam Jones RBI single.

Jose Bautista hit an RBI single and Brandon Nimmo hit an RBI double in the fourth-inning for the Mets. Todd Frazier hit a solo home run in the fifth-inning off of Dylan Bundy.

In the sixth-inning, the New York Mets exploded for nine runs. Nimmo hit a two-run triple and then he would later score on a wild pitch. Todd Frazier would hit a two-run double later in the inning. Kevin Plawecki hit a grand slam off of Evan Phillips.

Mark Trumbo hit an RBI single for the Orioles in the seventh inning. Austin Wynns hit an RBI double in the eighth-inning for the Baltimore Orioles. Jonathan Villar hit a two-run home run later in the inning off of Tim Peterson.

Wilmer Flores hit a two-run home run in the ninth-inning for the New York Mets off of Mike Wright Jr.

Zack Wheeler (8-6) was winning pitcher for the New York Mets. He pitched five innings and gave up five hits and one run. Wheeler walked two batters and struck out three.

Dylan Bundy (7-11) was the losing pitcher for the Baltimore Orioles. He pitched 5.1 innings and gave up 11 hits and seven runs. Bundy struck out five batters.

The Baltimore Orioles won the season series 3-1. They will start a three-game set on the road on Friday Night against the Cleveland Indians. The New York Mets will start a five-game set on the road against the Philadelphia Phillies, including a doubleheader starting Thursday Afternoon.
