When Todd Frazier was at the dish for the New York Mets in the bottom of the eighth-inning with the game tied at three for the San Francisco Giants, there was one guy on base and one out. Frazier swung on one knee and it appeared to be a random fly ball to left field. The ball carried and it eventually out of the park.
It would be the game-winning two-run homer off of Mark Melancon for New York and they also tacked on two more runs in the bottom of the eighth-inning and the Mets won the game 7-3. New York has not had much luck this season in rubber games.
Juan Lagares and Jeff McNeil also had RBI’s in the eighth-inning.
McNeil also had an RBI single in the bottom of the seventh-inning for New York when the Mets were down 3-2 and his RBI tied the game.
Amed Rosario and Dominic Smith hit back-to-back home runs in the bottom of the first-inning for the New York Mets off of Shaun Anderson.
Brandon Belt hit a two-run homer in the top of fourth-inning off of Zack Wheeler for San Francisco.
Pablo Sandoval hit a solo home run in the top of the seventh-inning off of Zack Wheeler.
Both starting pitchers pitched well, but they both did not get a decision.
Seth Lugo (3-0) was winning pitcher for New York. He pitched one inning and struck out one batter.
Mark Melancon (2-1) was the losing pitcher for San Francisco. He pitched one inning and gave up five hits and four runs. Melancon also walked a batter.
The New York Mets took two-out-of-three games against the San Francisco Giants in this series and they could have easily swept this series.
San Francisco’s next series will be for three games against the Los Angeles Dodgers starting on Friday night at home.
New York’s next series will be for three games against the Colorado Rockies at home starting on Friday night.
