The Nashville Predators have a loaded blue line and they want to make sure they keep that intact for the long run. Nashville signed defenseman Ryan Ellis to an eight-year contract extension worth $50 million.
He has one more year left on his five-year $12.5 million deal. Ellis is a 27 years old and he scored nine goals and recorded 23 assists, in 44 games last season. His plus/minus was 26. Ryan Ellis missed the beginning of the 2017-2018 season because he was recovering from offseason knee surgery.
Ellis will be relatively healthy for the start of the 2018-2019 season. The Predators also have P.K. Subban, Roman Josi, and Mattias Ekholm as key contributors on the blue line. Ryan Ellis is one of the assistant captains on the roster.
Ryan Ellis was one of the main reasons why the Nashville Predators made it to the Stanley Cup Finals in 2017. They also had the best record in the NHL last season and won the Presidents’ Trophy. Nashville hopes to win it all sometime soon.
