Nationals Bullpen Implodes in Loss Against Dodgers in Game 3

The Washington Nationals had a 2-1 lead over the Los Angeles Dodgers in the sixth-inning. Los Angeles busted the game open by scoring seven runs in that inning and they won game three over Washington 10-4.

This was another prime example of the Nationals bullpen imploding. Patrick Corbin (0-2) started Game 1 of this series, but he was responsible for the loss in this game.

Corbin pitched 0.2 innings and gave up four hits and six runs. He also walked two batters and struck out two. Patrick Corbin blew a save.

If Manager Dave Martinez is smart, he will not have him throw one pitch for the rest of this series.

In that sixth-inning, the Dodgers scored runs by Russell Martin on a 2-run double, Enrique Hernandez on a 2-run double, and Justin Turner on a three-run homer off of Wander Suero.

Washington had a chance to get back in the game in the sixth-inning. Asdrubal Cabrera hit a sacrifice fly in that inning. However, it turned into a double play because of a base running error by Howie Kendrick.

Russell Martin hit a 2-run homer for Los Angeles in the ninth-inning off of Hunter Strickland.

The other runs that were scored in this game was a 2-run homer by Juan Soto for the Washington Nationals off of Hyun-Jin Ryu in the first-inning.

Max Muncy also hit a solo home run for the Los Angeles Dodgers in the fifth-inning off of Anibal Sanchez.

Ryu (1-0) was the winning pitcher in this game for Los Angeles. He pitched five innings and gave up four hits and two runs. Hyun-Jin Ryu walked two batters and struck out three.

The Dodgers lead this series 2-1 and with a win on Monday night at Nationals Park in Washington D.C., Los Angeles will advance to the NLCS once again and then Washington would have to wait another day to advance to the NLCS for the first time in franchise history.

The projected starting pitchers in this game will be Rich Hill (4-1, 2.45 ERA) for the Los Angeles Dodgers and Max Scherzer (11-7, 2.92 ERA) for the Washington Nationals.
