Nationals Pull Away Against Orioles

The Washington Nationals only had a 2-1 lead on the Baltimore Orioles entering the sixth-inning. Washington busted the game open in the sixth-inning on a solo home run by Juan Soto off of Asher Wojciechowski and Brian Dozier scored on a balk to give the Nationals a 4-1 lead. Washington would eventually take down Baltimore on the road 8-1.

Matt Adams hit a solo home run for the Washington Nationals in the second-inning off of Asher Wojciechowski.

Hanser Alberto tied the game at one for the Orioles on a solo home run off of Austin Voth.

Anthony Rendon hit an RBI double in the third-inning for Washington to give them a 2-1 lead.

Rendon hit another RBI double in the seventh-inning and he made it 5-1.

Victor Robles had an RBI single for the Nationals in the eighth-inning.

Washington tacked on two more runs in the ninth on a Juan Soto RBI single and a Matt Adams RBI single.

Austin Voth (1-0) was the winning pitcher for the Washington Nationals. He pitched six innings and gave up four hits and one run. Voth walked one batter and struck out four.

It was only his fourth MLB start this season at 27 years old and it was also only Voth’s sixth career start.

Asher Wojciechowski was the losing pitcher for the Orioles. He pitched 5.1 innings and gave up six hits and three runs. Wojciechowski walked zero batters and struck out seven.

The projected pitching match up for the final game of this two-game set will be between Eric Fedde (1-1, 3.79) for Washington and Aaron Brooks (2-3, 4.75 ERA) for Baltimore.
