NBA Bucket’s Power Rankings: Week One

Week one of the NBA was very exciting and had some really good games. Here are my top 10 teams in my power rankings after the first week.

1.Houston Rockets 3-0

The Rockets have started off the season red hot as they upset the Warriors on opening night then took down the Kings and Mavs. James Harden looks like he is going to be an MVP Candidate yet again in his career and the whole team just looks great. The new additions the Rockets added are fitting in just right in the offense. Chris Paul might be out for a whole month which might slow them down but for now, they’re looking great.

2. Cleveland Cavaliers 2-1

The Cavs had two big wins on national television against the Celtics and the Bucks, two good teams in the east. The Cavs looked out of sync against the Magic but against the Bucks and Celtics, they showed how good they are. Lebron looks unstoppable and the depth of Cleveland is really deep.

3. San Antonio Spurs 2-0

Even without Kawhi Leonard, the Spurs opened off their season with a perfect record. The Spurs beat the Timberwolves and the Bulls. Gregg Popovich still looks like the best coach in the league and the Spurs role players are one of the best in the league. When Kawhi gets back this team is going to be a big threat in the West.

4. Washington Wizards 2-0

The Wizards stand at the top of the East right now with a perfect record. They beat the 76ers and the Pistons, two teams that have a chance of making the playoffs this season. John Wall looks incredible as he’s averaging 27 points and 9 assists right now.

5. Memphis Grizzlies 2-0

The Grizzlies pulled off two really tough wins this week against the defending champs and a rising pelicans team. Mike Conley and Marc Gasol still look like they have a good future and they look pretty good defensively as well. Gasol put up 34 points and 14 rebounds against the Warriors proving he is still one of the elite centers in the league.

6. Toronto Raptors 2-0

The Raptors had two blowout wins to start there season off. DeRozan and Lowry look like one of the best backcourts in the league and the role players for the Raptors are solid. After 2 games the Raptors combined margin of victory is 50 points right now! Look out East the Raptors look better than last season.

7. Minnesota Timberwolves 2-1

The Timberwolves had a really tough schedule to start their season off but they managed to pull off two tight wins out of the three. The Timberwolves dropped their first game then won in a close game against Utah in their home opener and then hit a buzzer beater to upset OKC. The Timberwolves seem like they can go far this year with all the talent they have.

8. Los Angeles Clippers 2-0

The dark horse for the MVP award Blake Griffin looks better than ever opening up his season really strong as he leads the Clippers to two blowout wins. Patrick Beverly is one of the best defenders in the league and Blake Griffin and DJ are one of the best frontcourts in the league. The Clippers might make some noise in the West if they continue to play how they are.

9. Golden State Warriors 1-2

The Warriors are off to a very disappointing start to their season as they dropped their home opener, almost lost to the Pelicans and lost an embarrassing one to the Grizzlies. Curry and Durant both got ejected Saturday night to make their season even uglier. On the bright side, the Warriors still have the best talent in the league and got off to a bad start last season leading to 68 wins. Expect them to be back on top very soon.

10. Milwaukee Bucks 2-1

The Bucks look like one of the better teams in the East to start off their season as Giannis is just playing outstanding. Giannis is averaging 38.3 points 9.7 boards and 5 assists as he looks like the frontrunner in the MVP conversation right now. The Bucks upset the Celtics in the TD Garden, lost a tough one to Cleveland and then won in a really closely matched game against the Blazers. The Bucks can make is far in the east this year and have a lot of young talent.
