The NBA finally begins next Tuesday after one of the most hectic offseason the NBA has ever seen. I’m going to give you guys my top 10 teams in order, playoff predictions and award predictions.

Power Rankings:

  1. Golden State Warriors
  2. Houston Rockets
  3. Cleveland Cavaliers
  4. Boston Celtics
  5. Oklahoma City Thunder

The Warriors stand at number one after winning the NBA Finals last year because they returned all of their stars and brought in some more bench players that can make their team even deeper. The Rockets are at two because they brought in Chris Paul, and have arguably the best bench in the league. The Rockets have the best backcourt in the League with passing machines Chris Paul and James Harden with an athletic center and thee post shooters all around them. The Cavs are at three after what a crazy offseason the

y had losing Kyrie but then adding Isaiah Thomas and Derrick Rose to fill his spots. The Cavs had a great offseason making their team have arguably the best backups in the league and got their team to be better defensively where they really struggled last year. The Celtics are at four with one of the best offseasons in the league drafting Tatum, signing Hayword in free agency, and trading for Kyrie. The Celtics are also really young an athletic making them even more of a threat. The Celtics also have a really talented young coach in Brad Stevens. The Thunder beat out the Spurs for the fifth spot because of the stars they added this offseason in Paul George and Carmelo Anthony. The Thunder also have a lot of young retiring players and the reigning MVP which makes them one of the biggest threats to the Warriors.

6. San Antonio Spurs

7. Minnesota TimberWolves

8. Washington Wizards

9.  Milwaukee Bucks

10. New Orleans Pelicans

The Spurs have always been one of the elite teams in the league making it to the WCF last year, returned most of their stars and added Rudy Gay. The Spurs also have the best coach in the league and a legitimate MVP candidate. The TimberWolves had the best offseason anyone could imagine adding Jimmy Butler, Jeff Teague, Jamal Crawford, and Taj Gibson. Minnesota also has a really good defensive minded coach in Tom Thibodeau, and a top 15 player in Karl Anthony Towns. The Washington Wizards are a really solid team with one of the best backcourt duos in the league in John Wall and Bradley Beal. The Wizards also have three point snipers and a good center in Gortat. The Milwaukee Bucks are one of the better defensive teams in the league and have amazing young talent with Giannis, Brogdon, and many other players on that team. The Pelicans make the top ten because they have one of the best front courts in NBA history with AD and Boogie. The Pelicans also added Rondo who is one of the best playmakers in the league to feed that monstrous front court.

Award Predictions:

MVP: James Harden

James Harden has been runner up twice in his career and this year he has the best team he’s ever played with in Houston and can finally make that extra push for the MVP. Harden can get the award if the Rockets win 60+ games, he puts up the number he put up last season and he has to limit his turnovers and bump his 3 point efficiency.

Runner up: Kevin Durant

ROY: Lonzo Ball

Lonzo Ball be one of the pressured rookies to ever player in the NBA, but that’s not stopping him now. Lonzo is one of the most gifted passers in the league and he’s only a rookie. Ball won the Summer league MVP and he has a chance to lead the Lakers to the playoffs.

Runner up: Ben Simmons

MIP: D’Angelo Russell

Russell is the perfect guy for this award getting traded from LA to Brooklyn this offseason where he can finally have a breakout season being the star on that team. Russell being able to lead the Nets to more wins than last season and bump his numbers up a spot with more looks than last season gives him a legitimate chance to win MIP.

Runner up: Jaylen Brown

DPOTY: Draymond Green

Draymond Green is the reigning Defensive Player of the Year and what’s stopping him now. Green is easily a top two defender in the league and is the leader of one of the best defensive teams in the league. Draymond is one of the most special defenders the NBA has ever seen and I think he can win back to back DPOTY awards.

Runner up: Kawhi Leonard

COTY: Brad Stevens

Brad Stevens is one of the best coaches in the league and he has the opportunity to lead the Celtics to back to back 1 seeds. Stevens is a great young coach and has the opportunity to do a great job catching all of the young talent they have and somehow fitting together a team with only four returning players.

Runner up: Pop

6thMOTY: Eric GordonImage result for eric gordon

Gordon won this award last season and seems like the favorite again this year. Gordon is one of the best three point shooters in the league and has amazing guards around him getting him more looks than any other 6th man in the league.

Runner up: Jamal Crawford
