Jared McCann scored his second goal of the game on an empty netter with 21 seconds remaining in regulation for Pittsburgh.
Jaroslav Halak finished with 33 saves for the Bruins. Tuukka Rask got the night off because it is 32nd birthday.
Matt Murray started in net for the Penguins for the second straight day after they lost 4-1 to the Columbus Blue Jackets on the road on Saturday night. He finished with 39 saves in this game. A lot of people thought Casey DeSmith was going to get the nod in this game, but he didn’t.
Pittsburgh won the season series 2-1 against Boston. These two teams could very well meet again in the 2019 Stanley Cup Playoffs, but if they were to meet, it would probably be in the Eastern Conference Finals.
