Pengiuns End Bruins 19-game Point Streak

The Boston Bruins entered Sunday night’s game on the road against the Pittsburgh Penguins with a 19-game point streak. Pittsburgh snapped that streak as they took down Boston 4-2.

Nick Bjugstad scored 1:33 into the game for the Penguins. Jared McCann scored on a back-handed short-handed goal for Pittsburgh with 6:06 remaining in the first-period.

David Krejci scored a power-play goal for the Bruins 4:32 into the second-period.

Jake Guentzel tallied a power-play goal for the Pittsburgh Penguins with 3:28 remaining in the second-period.

John Moore cut the deficit to one goal for the Boston Bruins with 1:01 remaining in regulation with an extra attacker on the ice.

Jared McCann scored his second goal of the game on an empty netter with 21 seconds remaining in regulation for Pittsburgh.

Jaroslav Halak finished with 33 saves for the Bruins. Tuukka Rask got the night off because it is 32nd birthday.

Matt Murray started in net for the Penguins for the second straight day after they lost 4-1 to the Columbus Blue Jackets on the road on Saturday night. He finished with 39 saves in this game. A lot of people thought Casey DeSmith was going to get the nod in this game, but he didn’t.

Pittsburgh won the season series 2-1 against Boston. These two teams could very well meet again in the 2019 Stanley Cup Playoffs, but if they were to meet, it would probably be in the Eastern Conference Finals.

The Boston Bruins next game will be on the road against the Columbus Blue Jackets on Tuesday night. The Pittsburgh Penguins next game will be at home against the Washington Capitals on Tuesday night.
