Penguins Shutout Blue Jackets

The Pittsburgh Penguins won seven consecutive games against the Columbus Blue Jackets heading into Thursday night’s match up. Columbus coach John Tortorella decided to shake things up and start goalie Joonas Korpisalo over Sergei Bobrovsky.

Keith Kinkaid backed up Korpisalo in the game. Joonas Korpisalo finished the game with 28 saves, but the Blue Jackets were shutout against the Penguins 3-0.

Phil Kessel scored a power-play goal for Pittsburgh 2:22 into the game. Columbus challenged the goal for goalie interference and the goal stood.

Nick Bjugstad scored for the Pittsburgh Penguins with 1:13 remaining in the second-period.

Sidney Crosby scored an empty-net goal for Pittsburgh with 30.8 seconds remaining in regulation.

Matt Murray made 25 saves for the Penguins. He recorded his fourth shutout of the season.

These two teams will play each other one more time this season on Saturday night in Columbus. Pittsburgh currently moves to the third spot in the Metropolitan Division at the moment and the Blue Jackets are currently on the outside looking in.
