Penguins Take Down Blackhawks in Shootout

Once again, the Pittsburgh Penguins found themselves trailing 2-0 against the Chicago Blackhawks at home at PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on a Saturday night.

Pittsburgh has lost its last 10 games to Chicago.

The Penguins were able to tie the game at two with 9:03 remaining in regulation on a goal scored by Bryan Rust. Jared McCann scored the game-winning shootout goal and Pittsburgh was able to knock off the Blackhawks by a score of 3-2.

Jake Guentzel also scored a shootout goal for the Pittsburgh Penguins and Patrick Kane scored a shootout goal for Chicago.

Dominik Kubalik scored for the Chicago Blackhawks 7:09 into the second-period. Patrick Kane scored for Chicago 1:48 later.

Jake Guentzel scored with 3:56 remaining in the second-period for Pittsburgh.

The Penguins did not have Sidney Crosby in the third-period. Head Coach Mike Sullivan announced he has a lower-body injury and Crosby will be evaluated more on Monday.

Pittsburgh is already dealing with injury issues this season. Patric Hornqvist is already out and so is Kris Letang.

Corey Crawford recorded 29 saves for Chicago in this game.

Matt Murray recorded 29 saves for the Pittsburgh Penguins in this game.

These two teams will play each other one more time this season.

The Chicago Blackhawks next game will be at home on Sunday night against the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Pittsburgh’s next game will be on the road against the New York Rangers on Tuesday night.
