Phillies Hold on against Orioles

Thursday was supposed to be an off day for both the Philadelphia Phillies and the Baltimore Orioles, but instead it was a make-up game for a game that was postponed on May 15. Jorge Alfaro sparked the Philadelphia Phillies with a 3-for-4 game with a homerun and three RBI’s, in 5-4 win over the Orioles.

Carlos Santana hit an RBI single for the Phillies in the third inning. Nick Williams also had an RBI in the third-inning, on a fielder’s choice to second base.

Jorge Alfaro hit a two-run double in the fourth inning. He hit a solo homerun in the sixth-inning off of Kevin Gausman.

Manny Machado had an infield RBI single in the sixth-inning for the Baltimore Orioles. Trey Mancini hit a two-run homer in the seventh-inning for Baltimore off of Nick Pivetta. Jace Peterson hit a solo homer the next at-bat for the Orioles off of Tommy Hunter.

Nick Pivetta (6-7) was the winning pitcher for the Philadelphia Phillies. He pitched 6.2 innings and gave up five hits and three runs. Pivetta walked one batter and struck out seven.

Kevin Gausman (4-7) was the losing pitcher for the Baltimore Orioles. He pitched five innings and gave up 12 hits and five runs. Gausman walked one batter and struck out two.

Seranthony Dominguez picked up his ninth save of the season for the Phillies. He pitched an inning and struck out a batter. Dominguez pitched a 1,2,3 ninth inning.

The Philadelphia Phillies win the season series against the Baltimore Orioles 4-0. The Phillies stay in first place in the National League East at the moment with a 52-40. They will play the Miami Marlins on the road for three games before the All-Star Break. The Baltimore Orioles will host the Texas Rangers for three games before the All-Star Break.
