Pittsburgh Penguins general manager Jim Rutherford continues not to mess around when it comes to re-signing players. On Monday, he re-signed Daniel Sprong and Dominik Simon. On Tuesday, Bryan Rust got re-signed to a 4-year deal worth $14 million.
Rust been a key role player for the Pittsburgh Penguins in the past three seasons. In 69 games this past season, he scored 13 goals and recorded 25 assists. His plus/minus was 11.
In 12-playoff games, he scored three goals and his plus/minus was 2. In 58 career postseason games, Rust has scored 16 goals and recorded five assists. His plus/minus is 14.
Rust has played on anywhere from the first line to the fourth line. With Bryan Rust now re-signed, the new order of business is to re-sign players like Riley Sheahan and Jamie Oleksiak. It is quite possible now that Carl Hagelin or Conor Sheary may be traded. It is also possible that both might be traded.
