Rams Top Lions; Win NFC West Crown

It was a pretty simply formula for the Los Angeles Rams to clinch the NFC West crown on Sunday afternoon on the road: win. The Rams just did that against the Detroit Lions 30-16. Los Angeles has won the NFC West title for the second consecutive season. The last time the Rams won back-to-back division titles was in 1984 and 1985.

With the game tied at three in the second-quarter, Jared Goff threw a 8-yard touchdown pass to Robert Woods. Goff completed 17-of-33 passes for 207 yards one touchdown and one interception. He also rushed for -2 yards on two carries. Woods caught five passes for 67 yards receiving and a score. He also rushed for 11 yards on two carries.

With the Detroit Lions trailing 16-6 in the third-quarter, Matthew Stafford threw a 11-yard touchdown pass to Taylor Decker. Stafford completed 20-of-33 passes for 245 yards one touchdown and one interception. He also rushed for two yards on one carry. LeGarrette Blount was the Lions leading rusher with 61 yards on 16 carries.

With the Los Angeles Rams leading 16-13 in the fourth, Todd Gurley scored on a 13-yard touchdown run.

Matt Prater made a 35-yard field goal for the Lions to cut the lead to 23-16. Todd Gurley added a 2-yard touchdown rams for the Rams later in the fourth. Gurley finished with 132 rushing yards on 23 carries and two touchdowns. He also caught three passes for 33 yards receiving.

The Los Angeles Rams (11-1) will be on the road against the Chicago Bears (8-4) next Sunday night. The Detroit Lions (4-8) will be on the road against the Arizona Cardinals (3-9) next Sunday.
