The Boston Bruins and the New York Rangers featured an exciting overtime period with the game tied at three, but the winner wasn’t decided in those five minutes 3-on-3. Mika Zibanejad (NYR) and Brad Marchand (BOS) both scored in the third-round of the shootout. In the seventh-round Tony DeAngelo scored the game-winning shootout goal for New York and David Krejci was stopped by Alexander Georgiev and it lifted the Rangers to a 4-3 win.
Mika Zibanejad scored the lone goal for New York in the first-period with 2:15 remaining.
Boston scored three goals in the second-period by Danton Heinen (9:23 remaining), David Pastrnak (8:11 remaining), and Patrice Bergeron (4:49, power play).
Kevin Hayes scored for the New York Rangers 9:24 into the third-period. Filip Chytil scored the game-tying power-play goal with 7:19 remaining in regulation for New York and the rest was history.
Jaroslav Halak made 36 saves for the Bruins. Alexander Georgiev made 27 saves for the Rangers.
These two teams will play each other one more time this season on Wednesday, March 27 in Boston. The Boston Bruins next game will be at home on Saturday afternoon against the Los Angeles Kings. The New York Rangers next game will be at home on Friday night against the Carolina Hurricanes.
