Yandy Diaz hit a lead off homer for the Tampa Bay Rays in the top of the first-inning off of Sean Manaea. Tampa Bay hit four home runs total and Diaz went 3-for-4 with two homers and the Rays stunned the Oakland Athletics on the road in the American League Wild Card Game 5-1.
Oakland had tons of chances to score runs in this game, but they left so many runners on base. That was the major difference in this game.

The only run scored in the game for the Athletics came in the third-inning on a sacrifice fly.
Tommy Pham hit a solo home run for the Tampa Bay Rays in the fifth-inning off of Yusmeiro Petit.
Charlie Morton was the winning pitcher in this game for Tampa Bay. He pitched five innings and gave up five hits and one run. Morton walked three batters and struck out four.
Sean Manaea was the losing pitcher in this game for Oakland. He pitched two innings and gave up four hits and four runs. Manaea didn’t walk a batter and he struck out five.
The Athletics lost in the American League Wild Card Game for the second consecutive season. They lost to the New York Yankees on the road last season.
The Rays will face the Houston Astros in the ALDS starting on Friday. They could be a threat to upset them, but time will only tell.
Oakland ends the season in utter disappointment again. The future looks bright there however. A lot of their fans wish the Wild Card Game format would be different however.
