Red Sox Win Pitchers Duel in Extra Innings against Orioles

The Boston Red Sox and the Baltimore Orioles were able to escape jams when they needed on Monday Night in Camden Yards for the first 11 innings. In the 12th inning, the Boston Red Sox were able to get the bases loaded with no body out. It eventually led to two sacrifice flies by Brock Holt and Jackie Bradley Jr. and that’s all the runs the Boston Red Sox would need as they won the game 2-0.

Mookie Betts returned from the 10-day disabled list because he had an abdominal injury. Betts looked good even though he went 1-for-5 from the plate.

The starting pitchers were outstanding for both teams, but neither of them picked up a win or a loss. Steven Wright was the starting pitcher for the Boston Red Sox. He pitched 6.2 innings and gave up four hits. Wright walked three batters and struck out five.

Dylan Bundy was the starting pitcher for the Baltimore Orioles. He pitched eight innings and three hits. Bundy walked two batters and struck out seven.

Heath Hembree (3-1) was the winning pitcher for Boston and he struck out the side in the 11th inning.

Mychal Givens was the losing pitcher for Baltimore. He pitched 1.1 innings and gave up two hits and two runs. Givens also walked a batter and struck out a batter.

Craig Kimbrel picked up his 21st save of the season for the Red Sox. He pitched one inning and Kimbrel walked a batter and struck out three.

This three-game set continues on Tuesday Night at Camden Yards in Baltimore, Maryland.
