Rockies Win Back and Forth Affair Against Nationals

The Colorado Rockies trailed 7-5 entering the eighth-inning against the Washington Nationals on the road in the rubber game of the series. Daniel Murphy hit a solo home run off of Tony Sipp to cut the lead to 7-6.

In the ninth-inning, Ian Desmond tied the game on a solo home run for Colorado to tie the game at seven. Daniel Murphy got the game-winning RBI on a force out which allowed Charlie Blackmon to score from third base as the Rockies were able to knock off Washington 8-7.

Colorado also scored the first two runs in the game in the fourth-inning on a Ryan McMahon RBI single and a two-run homer by Garrett Hampton off of Max Scherzer.

Anthony Rendon tied the game at three for the Nationals on a three-run homer in the fifth-inning off of Jeff Hoffman.

Ryan McMahon hit a two-run homer in the sixth-inning for the Colorado Rockies off of Matt Grace.

Washington responded in the sixth-inning on a two-run double by Gerardo Parra and a RBI single by Trea Turner.

They also scored in the seventh-inning on a solo home run by Matt Adams off of Sam Howard.

Jairo Diaz (3-3) was the winning pitcher for Colorado. He pitched one perfect inning.

Fernando Rodney (2-4) was the losing pitcher for the Washington Nationals. He pitched one inning and gave up two hits and two runs. Rodney also struck out one batter and struck out two. It was his second blown save of the season.

Wade Davis picked up his 15th save of the season for the Colorado Rockies. He pitched one inning and walked one batter and struck out three.

Jeff Hoffman was the starting pitcher in the game for Colorado. He pitched five innings and gave up four hits and three runs. Hoffman walked four batters and struck out four.

Max Scherzer was the starting pitcher in this game for Washington. He pitched five innings and gave up four hits and three runs. Scherzer walked two batters and struck out eight.

The Colorado Rockies will begin a three-game set on the road against the Cincinnati Reds starting on Friday night. The Washington Nationals will begin a monstrous three-game set at home against the Los Angeles Dodgers starting on Friday night.
