@RobertMurrayFRS at FanRagSports reported a pretty big trade between the Royals and Padres.
The Royals acquire Brandon Maurer, Butcher, and Cahill from the Padres, and the Padres acquire Strahm, Wood, and Ruiz.
Right now the Kansas City Royals are in a dog fight with the Twins and Indians in the AL Central, and this trade can really help them out.
Currently the Royals bullpen is ranked ninth in the MLB with a 3.90 ERA. Two of the pitchers acquired,Ryan Butcher and Trevor Kahill, could be the two bigger names in this trade. Both of these pitchers can provide help to the Royals pen. Ryan Butcher has posted a 3.05 ERA in 42 games this year, while Kahill has posted a 3.69 ERA in 11 games. Brandon Maurer who is the other piece headed to the Royals has struggled this year, currently he has a 5.72 ERA in 42 games.
The Padres also acquired some players with good potential in this trade. One player that really stands out is minor leaguer Esteury Ruiz. In the minors this year Ruiz has posted a .419 batting average in 86 at bats. Pitcher Travis Wood has had a very rough year with the Royals, but the former all star has some potential as he showed it with the Cubs last year. Strahm has also struggled as he has posted a 5.45 ERA in 24 games.
Let us know who you think won the trade @1N2W_.
