Steelers Dominate Panthers

The first five minutes of the Carolina Panthers and the Pittsburgh Steelers lived up to the hype. The Pittsburgh Steelers then opened up the flood gates and they dominated the Carolina Panthers 52-21.

Christian McCaffrey could not be stopped on the first drive for the Panthers offense. Cam Newton threw a 20-yard touchdown pass to McCaffrey on the first drive of the game.

Pittsburgh responded on the next drive on the first play with a Ben Roethlisberger 75-yard touchdown pass to JuJu Smith-Schuster. He caught three passes for 90 yards receiving and a score. Smith-Schuster also rushed for 13 yards on one carry.

Vince Williams returned an interception 17 yards for a touchdown later in the first for Pittsburgh. James Conner scored on a 2-yard touchdown in the first-quarter for the Steelers. He finished with 65 yards rushing on 13 carries and a score. Conner also caught one pass for eight yards receiving.

With Carolina trailing 24-7 in the second-quarter, Cam Newton threw a 25-yard touchdown pass to Christian McCaffrey. Newton completed 23-of-29 passes for 193 yards two touchdowns and one interception. He also rushed for 10 yards on two carries.

Antonio Brown caught a 53-yard touchdown pass from Roethlisberger later in the second for Pittsburgh. Brown finished with six receptions for 96 yards receiving and a score.

Ben Roethlisberger threw two more touchdown passes in the third-quarter to Vance McDonald from 12 yards out and Jesse James from eight yards out. McDonald finished with four receptions for 44 yards receiving and a score. That was James’s only reception in the game.

Eric Reid was ejected in the third-quarter for the Carolina Panthers because of an illegal hit to Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger. Tempers would flare after the hit.

Roethlisberger threw one more touchdown pass in the fourth-quarter to Jaylen Samuels from six yards out. This was Samuels’s first career touchdown. He finished with three receptions for 22 yards receiving and a score. Samuels also rushed for seven yards on five carries.

Ben Roethlisberger completed 22-of-25 passes for 328 yards and five touchdowns. He also rushed for 27 yards on three carries.

Christian McCaffrey scored on a 1-yard touchdown run in the fourth-quarter for the Carolina Panthers. McCaffrey finished with 77 yards rushing on 14 carries and a score. He also caught five passes for 61 yards receiving and two touchdowns.

The Carolina Panthers (6-3) will be on the road against the Detroit Lions (3-5) next Sunday. The Pittsburgh Steelers (6-2-1) will be on the road against the Jacksonville Jaguars (3-5) next Sunday.
