The Pittsburgh Steelers and the Baltimore Ravens were completely different heading into Week 9. The last time these two teams met was in Pittsburgh in Week 4 and the Ravens dominated them. This time around, Pittsburgh defeated Baltimore 23-16.
With the Steelers trailing 3-0 in the first, James Conner caught a 7-yard touchdown pass from Ben Roethlisberger. Conner finished with seven receptions for 56 yards receiving and a score. He also rushed for 107 yards on 24 carries.
In the second-quarter, Ben Roethlisberger threw a 6-yard touchdown pass to Antonio Brown. Brown finished with five receptions for 42 yards receiving and a touchdown. JuJu Smith-Schuster was the Steelers leading receiver with seven receptions for 78 yards receiving.
Ben Roethlisberger completed 28-of-47 passes for 270 yards and two touchdowns. He also rushed for four yards on two carries and a touchdown.
With Pittsburgh up 14-6 in the third, Roethlisberger scored on a 1-yard touchdown run (missed extra point).
The Baltimore Ravens responded on the next drive on a 1-yard touchdown run by Alex Collins. He rushed for 35 yards on nine carries and a score. Collins also caught one pass for four yards receiving.
Willie Snead was the Ravens leading receiving with seven receptions for 58 yards receiving.
Za’Darius Smith injured Ben Roethlisberger’s shoulder in the fourth-quarter. Joshua Dobbs had to come in for one play and had a 22-yard completion to JuJu Smith-Schuster.
The Baltimore Ravens got the ball back trailing 23-16 with less than two minutes remaining. The Ravens were not able to score a touchdown on their final drive. Joe Flacco completed 23-of-37 passes for 209 yards.
It will be interesting to see where the Ravens go from here. Their were reports swirling before the game that Head Coach John Harbaugh is on the hot seat. Will they make a move or wait until the season is over?
The Pittsburgh Steelers (5-2-1) will host the Carolina Panthers (6-2) on Thursday night. The Baltimore Ravens (4-5) will go on a bye next week. They will then host the Cincinnati Bengals (5-3) in Week 11.
