After the Pittsburgh Penguins lost to the New Jersey Devils at home 6-3 on Monday night, Pittsburgh has decided to recall centerman/forward Teddy Blueger from the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins (AHL).
He has had the best year of his AHL career in 2018-2019. In 45 games, Blueger has scored 21 goals and recorded 18 assists. His plus/minus is 20.
It is very possible he will make his NHL debut on Wednesday night against the Tampa Bay Lightning. Teddy Blueger is 24 years old. He will most likely be plugged in on the fourth-line.
The Penguins currently have 13 forward on the roster. Garrett Wilson will most likely be the odd man out on Wednesday. I would find it hard to believe for Pittsburgh to sit Blueger on the bench tomorrow. They might as well play him since he was called him.
It is also possible Teddy Blueger could be the third line centerman if Derick Brassard is dealt before the trade deadline. Riley Sheahan would be the preferred option, but Blueger has more upside.
