Now let’s get into the awards!
The 2017-2018 Pro Sports Fandom NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year is…
New Orleans Saints RB Alvin Kamara
Why: Alvin Kamara has been one of the most exciting players to watch in the entire league this season and he’s been such a productive player as apart of that slow and steady Saints Offense. Kamara is a do it all kind of player and is one that only comes around once in a century. He’s racked up 1,426 total yards of offense this season, amounting for 12 total touchdowns while only fumbling once. Not to mention the fact that Kamara also has to deal with fellow star running back Mark Ingram taking up a lot of carries and vulturing away plenty of potential touchdowns. Kamara was quite an easy pick to win this award and he will be a force to be reckoned with in the future.
The 2017-2018 Pro Sports Fandom NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year is…
New Orleans Saints CB Marshon Lattimore
Why: Saints defensive back Marshon Lattimore has been one of the most impressive rookies in the entire league this season and many will recognize him and Cameron Jordan as the key cogs to the Saints revitalized defensive success. Lattimore has a total of five interceptions on the season with one touchdown return, as well as a fumble forced and recovered. He also has totaled 41 tackles on the season. Lattimore is the fifth highest graded overall cornerback according to Pro Football Focus at a 90.3 and has allowed a 45.3 passer rating when he is targeted.
The 2017-2018 Pro Sports Fandom NFL Rookie of the Year is…
New Orleans Saints RB Alvin Kamara
Why: Ditto what I said from his offensive Rookie of the year nomination! This kid is just that good!
The 2017-2018 Pro Sports Fandom NFL Game of the Year is…
The New England Patriots-Pittsburgh Steelers matchup in Week 15.
The 2017-2018 Pro Sports Fandom NFL Play of the Year is…
Houston Texans wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins amazing touchdown catch against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 16 of the NFL season.
The 2017-2018 Pro Sports Fandom NFL Most Valuable Player is…
New England Patriots QB Tom Brady
Why: Same ol’ same ol’ Tom Brady right? Well it actually is a much closer race this year than in years past and I truly believe that Todd Gurley deserves to win this award but the same can be said for the Patriots aging veteran quarterback. Brady has been really solid once again this year and has put up stand out numbers. He has completed 67.5% of his passes for over 4,300 passing yards and 30 passing touchdowns while only throwing 8 interceptions. He’s led this Patriots team back to the postseason and likely on another incredible Super Bowl Run.
The 2017-2018 Pro Sports Fandom NFL Offensive Player of the Year is…
Los Angeles Rams RB Todd Gurley II
Why: Fantasy. Dreams. Crushed. That’s exactly what Todd Gurley has been all about this season and especially as of late. Gurley has been on an incredible run this season and has racked up two extremely ridiculous performances in his last two contests. The third year back has totaled over 1,300 yards rushing, for 13 rushing touchdowns as well as adding in nearly 800 receiving yards and a solid 6 receiving touchdowns. He’s been a vital game changer who’s been really important to the immediate success of the Rams this year.
The 2017-2018 Pro Sports Fandom NFL Defensive Player of the Year is…
Los Angeles Rams DT Aaron Donald
Why: We cannot talk about how special the Los Angeles Rams have been this year without mentioning star nose tackle Aaron Donald. Translation: This Guy is an absolute freak up front and is arguably the best defensive player in the league. He changes the game in many ways and even when he’s not getting directly to the quarterback, Donald’s presence is felt and countered by double teams which allow his teammates to have easier paths to the quarterback. He’s played in 14 of the 15 games the Rams have played in, forcing 5 fumbles, recovering a fumble, and tying a previous career high of 11 total sacks. He’s a game changer up front and a scary sight to see for all offensive lineman in the league.
The 2017-2018 Pro Sports Fandom NFL Coach of the Year is…
Los Angeles Rams Head Coach Sean McVay
Why: Sean McVay is the man behind the Rams sudden awakening into contendership in the NFC. Coming over after being the Redskins offensive coordinator, McVay brought a vision to repair the struggling Rams football team. And he did just that as he has led the Rams to their first winning season since their glory days of 2003, and their first playoff berth since 2004. McVay has coached the Rams into a Super Bowl contender and has helped quicken the development of former top overall draft pick in quarterback Jared Goff. The Rams look to be a contender for many years to come with McVay’s strong leadership at the helm.
The 2017-2018 Pro Sports Fandom NFL Comeback Player of the Year is…
New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski
Why: While we all probably expected Rob Gronkowski to return back to his form as the most dominant tight end in NFL history, the Patriots big pass catcher still deserves this award. After missing the final 11 games of last season (including playoffs), Gronkowski was set to come back stronger than ever. He did just that, once again resuming his role as Tom Brady’s reliable target and being great at it. He’s played in 13 games, totaling 69 receptions, for 1,084 receiving yards, and 8 receiving touchdowns. Oh and let’s not forget that Gronk singlehandedly drove the Patriots all over the Steelers on the game winning touchdown drive.
The 2017-2018 Pro Sports Fandom NFL Offensive Line of the Year is…
The New Orleans Saints Offensive Line
Why: The Saints have returned to their premier contendership days in the NFC South. A big reason for it? The improved offensive line that Sean Payton has at his disposal. This group is led by veteran center Max Unger who has been a truly important piece for the Saints success. Terron Armstead has been solid at left tackle while rookie right tackle Ryan Ramczyk looks like an absolute steal of a offensive tackle out of the draft. Senio Kelemete has been a solid plug in at left guard and it finishes off one of the most complete offensive lines in the league who allow Alvin Kamara and Mark Ingram to run all over defenses and also give Drew Brees the most optimal time in the pocket.
The 2017-2018 Pro Sports Fandom NFL Offense of the Year is…
The Los Angeles Rams Offense
Why: The Los Angeles Rams Offense has been a true firepower this season. They’ve been capable of scoring in bunches and finishing off opponents early. This Rams Offense ranks seventh in the NFL in total yards while also ranking tops in points scored. Jared Goff has developed into a prolific passer at quarterback and it’s helped revive Todd Gurley II who has had one heck of a season and figures to be considered in the NFL MVP race.
The 2017-2018 Pro Sports Fandom NFL Defense of the Year is…
The Jacksonville Jaguars Defense
Why: The Jacksonville Jaguars Defense may be the only reason for this team’s immediate success with Doug Marrone at head coach. They’re headed to their first postseason in many years and they hope to make a splash with this really great defense. They have surrendered the 3rd least offensive yards in the league, while surrounding the 2nd least total points in the NFL. This unit is led by an extremely talented secondary with Jalen Ramsey, A.J. Bouye, and Barry Church while Calais Campbell, Malik Jackson, and Yannick Ngakoue make life hard for the quarterback. Telvin Smith and Paul Posluszny are also arguably two of the best linebackers in the league. It’s an extremely dangerous unit and one that will be feared in the playoffs.
And wait before you go, I’d personally like to unveil my own All-Pro team with players whom I think are deserving of the honors this season.
