Many commentators and newspapers think it is time for the Eli Manning era to end in New York and I totally agree with them. The New York Giants record is 1-5 so far this season and their season is basically finished.
Manning can’t move in the pocket and he can’t make plays off of schedule. Eli Manning completed 24-of-43 passes for 281 yards and one interception, in a 34-13 loss on Thursday night against the Philadelphia Eagles.
Giants management thought Eli Manning had years left in the tank and they were obviously wrong. Wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. is showing frustration and I wonder if the locker room is divided?
Manning has another year left on his contract after this season, but they should be looking towards the future today.
The New York Giants need to start rookie quarterback Kyle Lauletta next Monday night on the road against the Atlanta Falcons and ride him for the rest of the season. He was a fourth-round pick in the 2018 NFL Draft and they need to see what they have. If Lauletta isn’t all that, they could go ahead and draft a quarterback.
The Giants currently own the first pick in the NFL Draft by the way this NFL season has gone. The top two quarterbacks in this NFL Draft is either Justin Herbert from Oregon or Drew Lock from Missouri.
Herbert is a mobile quarterback and he throws with accuracy. He could do wonders with in the New York Giants offense. Justin Herbert has completed 64.7 percent of his passes for 1,411 yards 15 touchdowns and five interceptions. He has also rushed for 107 yards on 33 carries and a score, so far this season.
Drew Lock is 6’4″ and he is athletic, but his accuracy is a concern. He has completed 59.9 percent of his passes for 1,487 yards 11 touchdowns and four interceptions. Lock has rushed 19 times for 84 yards and three touchdowns.
