The NBA Trade Deadline is three days away and the Los Angeles Lakers have increased their trade offer for Anthony Davis. League sources have told ESPN that Magic Johnson and Dell Demps have had trade talks today.
The latest trade offer is Kyle Kuzma, Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram, Rajon Rondo, Michael Beasley, Lance Stephenson, and multiple first-round picks for Anthony Davis. If the Lakers pursue this trade, they won’t have a ton of depth. Solomon Hill could also be a part of this trade.
They will have Ivica Zubac and Josh Hart on the roster still. Los Angeles will be lacking a point guard on the roster. Rajon Rondo and Lonzo Ball are the top two point guards on the roster. Lebron James can’t be running the point especially since he has been dealing with groin problems.
The Lakers potential starting five would be: (C) JaVale McGee (PF) Anthony Davis (SF) Kentavious Caldwell-Pope (SG) Josh Hart and (PG) Lebron James. Isaac Bonga, Tyson Chandler, Mortiz Wagner, Solomon Hill, Ivica Zubac, and Sviatoslav Mykhailiuk would be some of the key players off the bench for Los Angeles.
This trade would make them not as deep even though they would acquire a potential superstar in Anthony Davis. The Los Angeles Lakers are currently in 10th in the west with a 27-26 record. They are 1.5 games back of the Los Angeles Clippers for the eighth spot in the west.
This trade could be a good sign for Klay Thompson and Kyrie Irving. It is possible they could get one of those two players if the Lakers make this trade.
I think this trade would be crazy in the short term, but it could prove out to be better in the long run. The Los Angeles Lakers haven’t won the NBA title since the 2009-2010 season.
