The Washington Capitals are keeping a sharp eye on the NHL Standings. They play three games in the next four days. Washington has played 58 games so far this season. They are momentarily in second place in the Metropolitan Division and one point behind the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Pittsburgh has played 61 games so far this season and they don’t play again until Friday. Washington has to be careful because they could continue to slip with not only the Pittsburgh Penguins being hot, but also the Philadelphia Flyers and New Jersey Devils playing well as well.
The Flyers and Devils both have 70 points and they are three points behind Washington. Philadelphia and New Jersey have both played one more game than Washington has. If the Capitals continue to lose, they could fall out of a top two seed in the Metropolitan Division and they might have to start a series on the road which is something they don’t want to do.
