The most important position in Basketball, the QB of the floor, so who are the top five point guard’s in the NBA? Today we debate that point. Lets journey into the realm of the point man:
5. Kyrie Irving:
Kyrie is one of the most special players in the league with his gifted ball handling abilities, his insane finishes, and his efficient shooting. Kyrie is the most efficient iso player in the leaue along with Isaiah Thomas. Kyrie is one of the hardest, if not the hardest player to guard in the league right now with his ball handling and his unguardable finishes he displays night in, night out. Kyrie was a really efficient shooter this season shooting over 40% from three and a TS% of 58.0. Kyrie also scoring over 25 PPG being with all the scoers on the cavs and hesalso put up 5.8 APG with Lebron being the number 1 playmaker on the team. Kyrie is only 25 years old and is a born champion and one of the most special players in the league and that’s why I got him at 5.
4. John Wall
John Wall is one of the most athletic guards in the league, one of the best passers in the league, and also a really solid defender. John Wall just came off of a career high 23.1 PPG and a career high 10.7 APG. John Wall is also one of the most athletic players in the league with how fast he is being one of the best fast break players in the league. Last years playoffs John Wall put up over 27 PPG and over 10 APG. Wall is also one of the quickest defending guards out there averaging 2 steals per game. John Wall and Kyrie are really close on my list but what Wall has done with his supporting cast is really special , his playmaking is better, and he’s a much better defender than him.
3. Chris Paul
Chris Paul has been one of the best point guards in the league for awhile now being a first team all defensive team player, a super efficient scorer, and the best passing point guard in the league. Chris Paul shot over 40% from three last season and shot a 61.4 TS#% last season. Chris Paul averged over 9 assists per game last season and only 2.4 Turnovers per game while at it. Chris Paul is only 6’1″ and still gives you 5 rebounds per game. Chris Paul has always been a lock down defender averging 2 SPG and being 1st all defensive team last season. Chris Paul led his team to the 4th seed in the difficult West and has always been one of the best point guards in the league and still is and that’s why I got him at 3.
2. Russell Westbrook
Russell Westbrook just came off of a historic MVP season averging a triple double while being one of the most athletic players in the league. Westbrook also won the scoring title last season averaging 31.6 PPG. Westbrook, being a point guard led his team, in RPG with a 10.7 score. Westbrook was voted hardest player to guard by the players this offseason as well although I still think guards like Kyrie and Steoh are harder to guard. Westbrook led a terrible supporting cast to the 6th seed last season which is really impressive because a lot of people didn’t even think they would make the playoffs with the departure of Kevin Durant. Russell Westbrook has proved how impressive his game was last season wit hte MVP and the ability to lead a team to many wins by himself makes me put him at number 2.
1. Stephen Curry
Curry has been the best point guard for the last two seasons being the best shooter of all time, a really efficient offenisve player, and his special playmaking ability. Curry is 2x MVP and a 2x NBA champion, one of the only players to ever do that. Curry was super close to shooting 40-50-90 for the second straight year of his career. KD just joined the Warriors last season and Curry was still able to scoer over 25 point per game and about 7 APG. Now why isn’t Westbrook over Curry after the season he just had? I got Curry because I think Curry is the much better shooter, better at handling the ball, harder to guard, better defender, and I also think he is the better leader. Curry has led his team to 73 wins before which shows his ability to be a good leader. Curry is the best point guard in the league with what he has proven.
My honorable mention is Isaiah Thomas, and I did not include James Harden as a point guard because CP3 is now the point guard as the Rockets.
