Tuukka Rask Shutout Helps Bruins End 14-Game Skid Against Capitals

The Boston Bruins have lost 14 consecutive games against the Washington Capitals. Tuukka Rask stood tall all game long for Boston in net and he recorded a 24-save shutout in a 1-0 win over Washington. This was Rask’s 253th career win and he is now has the most wins for a goalie in franchise history.

David Krejci scored the lone goal of the game for the Bruins in the second-period with 9:17 remaining. It was assisted by Torey Krug and David Pastrnak. Boston took 39 shots on net and Braden Holtby saved 38 of them for the Capitals.

Alex Ovechkin returned from his one game suspension for Washington. He missed Friday night’s 4-3 win at home against the Calgary Flames. Ovechkin was suspended for missing the NHL All-Star Game last weekend due to rest.

The Washington Capitals won the season series against the Boston Bruins  2-1. It is very possible these two games play each other again in the postseason. Boston’s next game will be on Tuesday at home against the New York Islanders. Washington’s next game will be on Tuesday at home against the Vancouver Canucks.
