The Phoenix Suns were once a championship contending team over a decade ago with players like Steve Nash, LeAndro Barbosa, Shawn Marion, Amare’ Stoudmire, Tim Thomas, and others. The last time this team made it to the postseason was in 2009-2010.

They actually reached the conference finals that season in the west and Phoenix lost to the Los Angeles Lakers in five games. For some strange reason, they have not reached the postseason ever since.

The Suns used to be a successful business, but they haven’t found their way for some reason, In 2013-2014, Phoenix with a 48-34 record, but they failed to reach the playoffs because the Phoenix Suns finished in ninth place that season.

The Phoenix Suns have the second worst record in the NBA this season at 17-56. This NBA Draft Lottery can change their scene for the future. Zion Williamson or Ja Morant would change this franchise instantly.

Williamson might be a once in a generational talent from Duke and Morant could also be the face of the franchise at the point guard position like Steve Nash was.

A couple of the corner stone pieces this franchise has right now is center DeAndre Ayton, shooting guard Devin Booker, small forward Mikal Bridges, and small forward Josh Jackson.

Igor Kokoskov is in his first season as the head coach of this franchise.

This team currently has a first-round pick and a second-round pick. This team doesn’t have very good depth at all and that is one of the reasons why they have the second worst record in the NBA.

Another reason why Phoenix isn’t the franchise it once was is because they can’t attract free agents. The Suns could use a star player in the worst way, but no one wants to go there.

If the Suns landed with the number one pick and take Zion, could that be a destination ticket for other key free agents to land there?

Ja Morant would be a nice player to have to, but he isn’t as hot of a commodity Williamson is.

Phoenix is a long way away from competing in the western conference, but a ping pong ball bounce could be what this franchise needs.
