Where Will Kyrie Irving Be Next Season?

The Boston Celtics had a major letdown in the 2018-2019 NBA season. Kyrie Irving and Gordon Hayward didn’t even play in the playoffs last season and they made it further without them than they did with them this season.

Irving will be an unrestricted free agent on July 1. He is most likely not coming back to Boston. With that being the case, where could he be possibly playing next season and beyond?

The first team that comes to mind is the Los Angeles Lakers. There is no doubt in my mind that he wants to reunite with Lebron James despite all of the problems that occurred between them in Cleveland. Kyrie Irving probably realizes how hard it is to be a leader and he won’t have to play that role any longer with Lebron on his side.

The second team that comes to mind is the New York Knicks. I don’t think Kyrie should make this move unless Kevin Durant is the first domino to fall. It has been rumored for a while that Irving will possibly go there.

The third team that comes to mind is the Brooklyn Nets. Brooklyn doesn’t have a top superstar. It would be interesting to see him and D’Angelo Russell in the same back court together.

The fourth team that comes to mind is the Los Angeles Clippers. Los Angeles had an impressive season without a true superstar and they also traded away Tobias Harris at the trade deadline. This team is a top free agent or two away from being a serious title contender.

The fifth team that comes to mind is the Cleveland Cavaliers. This team is obviously a long shot and a after thought, but did Irving really want to leave Cleveland? What if he goes back and plays with Kevin Love and maybe R.J. Barrett, Ja Morant, or Zion Williamson?

It will also be a long shot for him to return to Boston, but they only way I see him returning there is if someone talks him into staying and if also Danny Ainge makes the necessary moves to persuade him to stay like trading for Anthony Davis from the New Orleans Pelicans.

If I was betting on this, I would think Kyrie Irving signs a deal with the Los Angeles Lakers this summer.
