Where Will Mike Moustakas get traded to?

Third baseman Mike Moustakas re-signed with the Kansas City Royals for one season during the offseason. He is 29 years old and the Royals are in last place in the American League Central with a 22-49 record. Kansas City has already started the rebuilding stage.

The Royals feel like Moustakas is good enough to help another team. He has a .259 batting average with 13 homeruns and 46 RBI’s, along with two stolen bases. His on-base percentage is .314. What teams could trade for Moustakas?

The first team that comes to mind is the New York Yankees. Even though Miguel Andujar (.298 batting average eight homeruns 28 RBI’s, one stolen base and .326 on-base percentage) is having an excellent season at third base, the Yankees need a veteran inside the club house that has won a World Series title. I know this sounds ironic because the New York Yankees have won the World Series title 27 times in franchise history, but they haven’t won since 2009.

The second team that comes to mind is the Atlanta Braves. They have young studs like Ronald Acuna Jr., Ozzie Albies, and Freddie Freeman, The Braves currently have Ryan Flaherty at the starting third baseman third base and  John Camargo sometimes plays third base as well. Moustakas would be a major upgrade at that position and they would become a serious threat to win the World Series. The Braves would have a plethora of prospects to give to the Royals.

The third team that comes to mind is the Washington Nationals. The Nationals have struggled to get past the divisional round. They have the talent to make a playoff run. Moustakas would be a perfect player to help out the Nationals get over the hump. Washington seems to be injury prone this season and having depth never hurts.

The fourth team that comes to mind is the Arizona Diamondbacks. Other than Paul Goldschmidt and A.J. Pollock, what other threat does Arizona have in their lineup? The answer is no one really. Jake Lamb is Arizona’s current third baseman. Moustakas would push Lamb to the bench. Lamb only has a .208 batting average with five homeruns and 20 RBI’s.

If I were a betting man, the team that Mike Moustakas will get traded to is the Atlanta Braves.
