Will A.J. Pollock Sign with the New York Mets?

The New York Mets have made several moves this offseason. New York still needs help in the outfield. Outfielder A.J. Pollock remains a free agent. Will General Brodie Van Waganen sign him?

The Mets already signed utility player Jed Lowrie to a 2-year deal, but he is more of an infielder than an outfielder. Lowrie can play everyday, but it shouldn’t be in the outfield. They also have Jeff McNeil who is also reliable in the infield, but he is not an outfielder.

The only true starters New York has in the outfield right now is Michael Conforto in left field and Brandon Nimmo in right field. A.J. Pollock would fill the void in center field. Pollock is an upgrade over Juan Lagares and Yoenis Cespedes is most likely sidelined for the 2019 season anyways.

A.J. Pollock’s batting average with the Arizona Diamondbacks last season was .257 with 21 home runs and 65 RBI’s, along with 13 stolen bases. His on-base percentage was .316. Pollock played in 113 games with them last season.

A.J. Pollock is 31 years old. Other than the New York Mets, a couple of other teams are interested him like the Atlanta Braves and the Los Angeles Dodgers. I think New York will find a way to sign him.
